전남광주통합특별시는 최태원 SK그룹 회장이 지난 10월 9일 광주 군공항과 탄약고 이전 예정지를 찾아 호남권 반도체클러스터 조성 준비상황을 현장 점검했다고 10월 12일 발표했다. 이날 현장 방문에는 민형배 전남광주통합특별시장을 비롯해 공군 및 SK그룹 주요 관계자들이 함께 참석해 부지 조성 여건과 전력·용수 등 핵심 기반시설 대응력을 집중 점검했다.

통합특별시는 그동안 곽노정 SK하이닉스 대표이사를 비롯한 기업 관계자들과 10차례 협의를 거치며 투자 수요를 다져왔다. 특히 호남권 반도체클러스터 조성을 위해 확보된 6조 원 규모의 통합재정을 직접 편성·집행해 기업이 필요로 하는 기반시설 확보 및 정주 여건 개선, 전문 인재 양성에 과감하고 실질적인 행정·재정적 지원을 집중할 방침이다.

민형배 전남광주통합특별시장은 "SK하이닉스가 세계 최고 수준의 반도체 공장을 최적의 환경에서 안정적으로 건설·운영할 수 있도록 부지·전력·용수 등 핵심 기반시설은 물론 인재 양성과 정주여건도 확실하게 뒷받침하겠다"라고 강조했다.

Utilizing a direct integrated financial fund worth 6 trillion KRW, Jeonnam-Gwangju plans to deliver swift administrative and financial backing to build essential power, water, and residential infrastructure while establishing dedicated talent pipelines.

Min Hyung-bae, Mayor of Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, affirmed that the city will extend all necessary support to ensure SK Hynix can build and operate top-tier semiconductor plants under optimal conditions.
