순천시(시장 손훈모)는 (사)대한노인회 순천시지회가 주관한 '제30회 노인의 날 기념식'을 10월 7일 순천시문화건강센터에서 성황리에 개최했다고 8일 발표했다. 이날 행사에는 지역 어르신을 비롯해 유관 기관 단체장, 복지 유공자 등 200여 명이 참석했다.
행사는 식전 축하 공연을 시작으로 노인강령 낭독, 모범 노인 및 복지 기여자 표창, 기념사 순으로 진행됐다. 특히 지역사회 발전에 이바지하고 봉사 정신을 실천해 온 모범 어르신과 복지 증진에 기여한 유공자 52명에게 표창장을 수여해 의미를 더했다.
순천시는 매년 10월 어르신에 대한 공경과 감사의 마음을 전달하고 있으며, 10월 한 달 동안 읍면동별 경로 위안잔치를 순차적으로 이어갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
