전남광주통합특별시는 10월 7일 고흥 나로우주센터에서 한국형발사체 누리호 5차 발사가 성공적으로 이뤄진 데 대해 환영의 뜻을 밝히고, 고흥을 중심으로 한 우주수송 중심지 조성에 박차를 가하겠다고 8일 발표했다. 이번 발사는 초소형군집위성 5기 및 큐브위성 10기 등 역대 최다인 총 15기의 위성을 태양동기궤도에 투입하는 임무로, 우리 발사체로는 처음으로 초소형군집위성을 성공적으로 궤도에 올려놓았다.

이번 발사는 체계종합기업인 한화에어로스페이스가 제작한 누리호 5호기를 활용했으며, 민간기업의 전 과정 참여를 통해 우주산업 생태계 확대와 기술력 향상이 가시화됐다. 전남광주통합특별시는 2030년을 목표로 우주발사체 국가산업단지, 민간발사장, 발사체기술사업화센터 등 핵심 인프라를 차질 없이 구축하는 한편, 재사용발사체 거점이 될 제2우주센터 유치와 사이언스 콤플렉스 조성, 우주항공산업진흥원 설립, 고흥~광주 우주고속도로 건설 등을 함께 추진할 방침이라고 밝혔다.

Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City plans to complete core space infrastructure by 2030 while aggressively pursuing the attraction of the 2nd Space Center for reusable launch vehicles, constructing a Science Complex, establishing the Aerospace Industry Promotion Agency, and building the Goheung-Gwangju Space Expressway.
