[CTN/사회]가금현 기자 = 충남 서산시 동문2동(동장 차규식) 통장단협의회(회장 최일환)가 지역 주민들의 안전을 위해 정기적인 자율방제활동에 나서며 쾌적하고 안전한 마을 만들기에 힘을 보태고 있다.

동문2동 통장단협의회는 10월 12일 동문2동 먹자골 주변 도로변 배수로관과 맨홀 등을 대상으로 자율방제활동을 펼쳤다.

이날 활동에는 통장들과 차규식 동문2동장 및 동 직원들이 함께 참여해 한마음으로 구슬땀을 흘렸다.

참여자들은 배수로와 맨홀 내부에 쌓인 낙엽과 담배꽁초, 각종 생활쓰레기 등을 집중적으로 수거하고 주변 환경을 정비했다.

특히 가을철 낙엽이 쌓이면서 배수로가 막힐 경우 집중호우 때 원활한 배수가 이뤄지지 않을 수 있는 만큼, 사전에 위험요인을 제거해 침수 피해를 예방하는 데 중점을 뒀다.

동문2동 통장단협의회는 매월 통장회의를 앞두고 지역 곳곳을 살피며 자율방제활동을 지속적으로 추진하고 있다.

통장단은 주민들과 가장 가까운 곳에서 생활환경과 안전 문제를 살피고, 위험요인을 사전에 발견해 정비하는 등 사고 없는 안전한 마을을 만드는 데 앞장서고 있다.

실제로 지난해 폭우 당시 서산지역 곳곳에서 침수 피해가 발생하는 상황에서도 동문2동은 통장단과 행정기관이 평소 배수로 등을 점검하고 정비하는 등 선제적인 대응에 나서면서 큰 침수 피해를 예방하는 데 힘을 보탰다.

최일환 회장은 "매월 통장회의를 앞두고 통장들이 자발적으로 지역 곳곳을 살피고 환경정비에 참여해 감사드린다"며 "작은 실천이 주민들의 안전을 지키고 사고를 예방하는 중요한 역할을 한다고 생각한다"고 말했다.
이어 "앞으로도 동문2동 행정복지센터와 긴밀히 협력해 주민들이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 환경을 만드는 데 통장단이 적극 앞장서겠다"고 밝혔다.

차규식 동문2동장은 "지역의 안전과 환경을 위해 늘 앞장서 주시는 통장님들께 감사드린다"며 "바쁜 일정에도 자율방제활동에 함께해 주신 통장님들과 직원들의 노고에 깊이 감사드린다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "행정기관의 힘만으로는 주민 생활 곳곳의 안전을 챙기는 데 한계가 있는 만큼, 통장단과 주민들의 자발적인 참여가 무엇보다 중요하다"며 "앞으로도 민관이 함께 힘을 모아 안전하고 쾌적한 동문2동을 만들어 나가겠다"고 강조했다.

동문2동 통장단협의회는 앞으로도 정기적인 자율방제활동을 비롯해 지역 내 환경정비와 안전점검을 지속적으로 실시하며 주민들이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 동문2동을 만들어 나간다는 방침이다.

한편 동문2동은 서산시의 관문 역할을 하는 서산버스터미널을 비롯해 서산전통시장과 먹자골 등이 위치한 서산의 중심지역으로, 유동인구가 많은 만큼 쾌적한 도시환경과 생활안전 관리의 중요성이 높은 지역이다.

[CTN/Society] Reporter Ga Geum-hyeon = The Dongmun 2-dong Residents' Representatives Council in Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do, led by Chairman Choi Il-hwan, carried out voluntary flood-prevention and environmental cleanup activities around the Meokjagol area on October 12.
The council focused on roadside drainage channels and manholes around Meokjagol, removing accumulated leaves, cigarette butts and other waste that could obstruct drainage.
Dongmun 2-dong Chief Cha Gyu-sik and municipal employees also joined the representatives in the cleanup, working together to improve the local environment and prevent potential flooding during heavy rainfall.
The Residents' Representatives Council has regularly conducted voluntary flood-prevention activities ahead of its monthly representatives' meetings. The activities are aimed at identifying and removing potential hazards in advance and creating a safer community for residents.
Chairman Choi Il-hwan expressed his appreciation to the representatives and employees who consistently participate in the activities.
“We sincerely appreciate all the representatives and employees who voluntarily participate in maintaining our neighborhood,” Choi said. “Even small efforts can play an important role in protecting residents and preventing accidents.”
He added, “We will continue to work closely with the Dongmun 2-dong administrative office and take the lead in creating a safe and pleasant living environment for residents.”
Dongmun 2-dong Chief Cha Gyu-sik also thanked the representatives and employees for their continued efforts.
“I deeply appreciate the representatives who always take the lead in protecting our community and maintaining a clean environment,” Cha said.
He continued, “The voluntary participation of residents and representatives is essential to identifying safety risks in our daily lives. We will continue to strengthen cooperation between the administration and residents.”
The Dongmun 2-dong Residents' Representatives Council plans to continue its voluntary flood-prevention and environmental cleanup activities to make Dongmun 2-dong one of the safest and most livable communities in Seosan.
Dongmun 2-dong is located in the center of Seosan and includes Seosan Bus Terminal, Seosan Traditional Market and the Meokjagol commercial district, making it one of the city's major areas with significant pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
