여수시는 서영학 시장이 지난 9월 30일 주요 고충 민원 현장을 직접 찾아 현장 여건과 시민 불편 사항을 점검하고 해결 방안을 모색했다고 7일 발표했다. 이번 방문은 민선 9기 핵심 공약인 '시민소통폰'과 '48시간 현장기동체계'의 조기 안착을 위해 추진됐으며, 웅천동 예울육교 설치 현장과 미평동 여수충무고등학교 앞 통학로를 집중적으로 둘러봤다.
개통을 앞둔 예울육교 현장에서 서 시장은 웅천더힐1단지 주민들의 육교 직접 연결 요청을 확인하고 관련 절차 이행을 지시했다. 시는 주민 불편 해소를 위해 별도 사업비 확보 및 녹지 점용허가를 단계적으로 추진하되, 타 아파트와의 형평성을 고려해 단지 내 보행로는 자체 설치하도록 안내할 방침이다. 이어 방문한 여수충무고 통학로 구간에서는 하천 복개 대신 도로 내 잔여 부지를 활용한 보행로 확보를 위해 경계측량을 즉시 의뢰했다.
여수시는 앞으로도 시장이 직접 주도하는 현장 점검을 강화해 시정 신뢰도를 제고하고, 시민 삶과 직결된 고충 민원을 속도감 있게 처리해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
