지식재산처(처장 김용선)와 한국지식재산연구원(원장 최규완)은 출범 1주년을 맞아 2일 서울 서초구 엘타워에서 '지식재산 행정의 역사적 발자취와 나아갈 방향'을 주제로 '제3차 지식재산 정책포럼'을 개최했다고 발표했다. 이번 포럼은 한국 지식재산 행정의 역사적 기원을 조명하고 향후 발전 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 포럼에는 계승균 국가지식재산위원회 위원장, 최규완 한국지식재산연구원장, 김일규 지식재산처 국장을 비롯해 산업계·학계·연구기관 전문가 80여 명이 참석했다. 발제에 나선 조선대학교 한지영 교수는 1882년 지석영 선생의 상소문부터 이어진 행정사를 발표했으며, 한국지식재산보호원 이종인 센터장은 초기 특허원의 설립과 운영 과정을 분석해 참석자들의 큰 관심을 모았다.
지식재산처와 한국지식재산연구원은 이번 포럼을 계기로 주요 정책 현안을 지속 발굴하고, 민·관·학을 아우르는 소통 플랫폼을 확대해 국가 지식재산 경쟁력을 지속 높여갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.

Professor Han Ji-young of Chosun University presented on the history of IP administration starting from Ji Seok-young's memorial to the King in 1882, while Lee Jong-in, Center Director at the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency, introduced the establishment and operation of the early Patent Office.
The Intellectual Property Office and KIIP plan to continuously identify major policy issues and expand communication platforms across private, public, and academic sectors to strengthen national IP competitiveness.
