[Society/CTN] Reporter Keum-hyun Ga= The "3rd Korea Lighthouse Week," the nation's largest lighthouse and maritime culture festival, is heating up with crowds flocking from all over the country as it marks its 10th day since opening.
Hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and operated by the Korea Institute of Aids to Navigation, the festival runs for two weeks from July 1st to 14th at the Yeongdo Lighthouse and across various areas in Busan.
The festival features a wide range of participatory programs that are highly popular among family travelers, couples, and lighthouse enthusiasts. Highlights at Yeongdo Lighthouse include lighthouse tours, treasure hunts, water gun fights, bubble shows, and smartphone photography classes. In addition, regular and special programs such as the 'AR Stamp Tour,' 'Lighthouse Week Bus Tour,' 'Yacht Tour,' and the 'Special Exhibition of Award-winning Lighthouse Photos' are being held.
In particular, the cool 'water gun fight' to beat the summer heat was filled with children's laughter, and the 'smartphone photography class' with a professional photographer was packed with people looking to capture the shot of a lifetime against the backdrop of the lighthouse.
The satisfaction level among the visitors on-site was exceptionally high. A citizen who visited with their children over the weekend shared, "We had so much fun playing with water guns and making lighthouses that time just flew by. It was an even more meaningful weekend gift for my child because we got to look inside the lighthouse, which was specially opened only for Lighthouse Week." Another university student participant, who encountered the festival during a lighthouse stamp tour, said, "It wasn¡¯t just about looking at the lighthouse; we got to enjoy a treasure hunt and put on pretty tattoo stickers. It felt fun, like being at a hip pop-up store that you can experience with your whole body."
The festival is open to any visitor at the site. Further details regarding 'Korea Lighthouse Week' can be found on the 'Lighthouse and Sea' official website.
