저자 신병호 박사가 집필한 《손자병법에서 배우는 리더의 전략과 리더십》은 고전의 정수를 현대 경영학과 리더십 이론에 접목해 오늘날의 리더들에게 실질적인 지혜를 제시한다.

이 책은 《손자병법》 속 군주와 장수의 역할을 현대의 국가 지도자, 군 지휘관, 나아가 기업의 최고경영자(CEO)와 크고 작은 조직을 이끄는 모든 리더로 확장한다.

저자는 손자의 사상을 현대 조직의 관점으로 읽어내며 ‘전쟁’은 ‘경쟁’으로, ‘병법’은 ‘경영전략과 전술’로 치환하여 이해할 수 있도록 돕는다.

저자인 신병호 박사는 육군사관학교를 졸업하고 서울대 경제학사, 경희대 경영학 석·박사 학위를 취득한 독특한 이력의 소유자다.

육군 준장으로 예편하기까지 30여 년간 야전 지휘관(소대장~연대장, 특공여단장)을 거쳤고 육군본부, 국방부, 청와대 등에서 국방정책과 전략 업무를 수행하며 보국훈장 천수장 등을 수훈했다.

전역 후에는 경희대 객원교수, 아주대 겸임교수 등을 역임하며 경영학과 전쟁이론을 강의한 이론과 실무를 겸비한 최고의 전문가다.

Written by Dr. Shin Byung-ho, Strategy and Leadership for Leaders Learned from The Art of War bridges the essence of the classic with modern business administration and leadership theories to present practical wisdom for today's leaders.
This book expands the roles of sovereigns and generals in The Art of War to encompass modern national leaders, military commanders, corporate CEOs, and all leaders heading organizations of any size. The author helps readers understand Sun Tzu’s philosophy through the lens of modern organizations, substituting 'war' with 'competition' and 'military strategy' with 'management strategy and tactics.'
In particular, the author boldly deconstructs the original text and rearranges it into 'The 16-Character Strategy for Leaders.' For each strategy, three implementation strategies and six action guidelines are clearly established to realize the goals. The book also features selected original texts containing the strategic characters, accompanied by clear commentary.

The author, Dr. Shin Byung-ho, possesses a unique background, having graduated from the Korea Military Academy, earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Seoul National University, and obtained both a master's and a doctorate in business administration from Kyung Hee University. Before retiring as a Brigadier General, he served in the military for over 30 years as a field commander (from platoon leader to regimental commander and special forces brigade commander) and handled national defense policy and strategy at the Army Headquarters, Ministry of National Defense, and the Blue House. He was awarded the Order of National Security Merit (Cheonsu Medal). Following his discharge, he shared his expertise by teaching business administration and warfare theory as a visiting professor at Kyung Hee University and an adjunct professor at Ajou University.
