[농진청/CTN]가요진 기자= 이승돈 농촌진흥청장은 "이번 업무협약 갱신은 대한민국 국방의 든든한 평화 유지 활동과 선진 케이(K)-농업기술이 결합해 만들어낸 관군 협력의 대표적인 성공 모형"이라며 "대한민국 농업기술과 파병 장병들의 땀방울이 어우러져 남수단 땅에 자립의 열매가 맺힐 수 있도록 전폭적인 기술 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"라고 밝혔다.
농촌진흥청(청장 이승돈)은 본청에서 남수단 평화 재건과 식량 자립을 지원하기 위해 '남수단재건지원단(한빛부대) 22진'과 업무협약을 갱신 체결했다고 발표했다. 이번 협약을 통해 양 기관은 한빛농장 운영 효율성을 극대화하고 현지 주민 대상 농업기술 전수 범위를 확대하는 등 관군 협력형 농업 공적개발원조(ODA)의 새로운 모형을 정립해 나가기로 했다.
농진청은 12월 파병을 앞둔 한빛부대 22진 민군 작전 간부들을 대상으로 고구마, 양파, 벼, 고추, 감자, 옥수수 등 주요 작목별 재배 기술과 가금류 사양 기술을 밀착 교육한다. 남수단은 지난 2011년 독립 이후 극심한 식량난을 겪고 있으며, 농진청은 통일형 벼 품종 ISRIZ-7 보급을 통해 1헥타르당 연간 최대 5톤을 수확하는 성과를 거둔 바 있다.
앞으로도 농진청은 경제작물 재배지 확대와 관개수로 확충은 물론 현지 농업전문직업학교에 교재와 강사를 지원하는 등 남수단 주민들이 스스로 식량문제를 해결할 수 있도록 다각적인 기술 지원을 이어갈 방침이라고 밝혔다.
