[전남광주/CTN]최영준 기자= 민형배 전남광주통합특별시장은 "HD현대삼호의 대규모 투자로 조선산업의 AX를 지역 산업 생태계 전체로 확산하는 계기가 될 것"이라며 "통합특별시가 보유한 선박 제조 기반에 AI라는 강력한 경쟁력을 더해 서남권역을 조선·기자재기업이 함께 성장하는 미래 산업 거점으로 만들겠다"라고 밝혔다.
전남광주통합특별시는 지난 10월 12일 영암 호텔현대 바이 라한에서 영암군, HD현대삼호, 대아산업, 대불경영자협의회, 전남조선해양기자재협동조합과 함께 'AI자율운영조선소 투자·업무협약'을 체결했다고 발표했다. 이번 협약은 조선업 현장의 인공지능 전환(AX)을 촉진하고 지역 조선산업의 미래 경쟁력을 높이기 위해 추진됐다.
협약에 따라 HD현대삼호와 대아산업은 오는 2031년까지 4천억 원을 투입해 선박 제조공정에 AI 기술을 적용한 선도(등대) 공장을 구축하고, 확보된 핵심 AX 기술을 지역 중소 기자재 업체에 이전할 계획이다. 이날 행사에는 김정관 산업통상자원부 장관과 민형배 시장 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 산업부·해수부 공동 'AI조선소 M.AX 얼라이언스 전략회의'도 함께 열렸다.
전남광주통합특별시는 대불산단 AX 실증 플랫폼 기반을 바탕으로, 친환경 연료 추진선 및 해상 자율운항선박 기술 등 차세대 조선산업 거점 조성을 위한 정책적 지원에 총력을 기울일 방침이라고 밝혔다.

Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City announced on October 12 that it signed an 'AI Autonomous Operation Shipyard Investment and Business Agreement' in Yeongam alongside Yeongam County, HD Hyundai Samho, Dae-ah Industrial, and regional shipbuilding cooperatives. The agreement aims to accelerate Manufacturing AI Transformation (AX) in the shipbuilding sector and bolster regional industrial competitiveness.
Under the agreement, HD Hyundai Samho and Dae-ah Industrial will invest 400 billion KRW by 2031 to establish an AI-powered flagship lighthouse factory in ship manufacturing, transferring core AX technologies to local enterprises. The event coincided with the 'AI Shipyard M.AX Alliance Strategic Meeting' jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, attended by Minister Kim Jung-kwan, Mayor Min Hyung-bae, and over 100 industry leaders.
Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City plans to leverage its industrial AX platforms to build comprehensive verification facilities for eco-friendly propulsion systems and autonomous vessel technologies.
