[농진청/CTN]가요진 기자= 권수진 농촌진흥청 디지털육종지원과장은 "디지털 표현체 기술은 다양한 작물과 농업 현장의 문제를 데이터 기반으로 해결하는 핵심 기술로 발전하고 있다"라며 "연구 기반과 전문 역량을 하나로 모으고, 데이터와 기술이 실제 산업과 농업 현장으로 이어질 수 있도록 민관 협력을 더욱 강화해 나가겠다"라고 밝혔다.
농촌진흥청(청장 이승돈)은 디지털 농업연구의 경쟁력을 높이고 표현체 연구 기반 활용을 확대하기 위해 지난 10월 1일 '디지털 표현체 민관 협의체'를 공식 출범하고 발족식을 개최했다고 7일 발표했다. 표현체는 환경 조건에 따라 작물에서 다르게 나타나는 종자, 잎, 줄기 등 관찰 가능한 모든 특성의 집합으로, 최근 생육 예측, 병해충 관리, 스마트팜 운영 등에 폭넓게 활용되고 있다.
그간 고가 장비와 정밀 분석 기술, 전문인력 부족으로 연구 현장의 활용에 제약이 있었으나, 이번 협의체 출범을 통해 국립농업과학원, KIST, 한국원자력연구원, 대학, 산업체, 한국영상식물학회 등이 인프라와 전문성을 적극 공유하게 된다. 농진청은 데이터 표준화와 빅데이터 생산을 총괄하고, 정부출연 연구기관은 특화 기술 개발, 대학은 전문인력 양성, 산업체는 현장 실증, 학회는 국제협력을 각각 맡아 유기적으로 협력할 예정이다.
