기후부-세종시-난방공사, 1만 7천 세대 열 공급한다

[환경부/CTN]가요진 기자= 금한승 기후에너지환경부 제1차관은 "하수열은 도심 가까이에서 얻을 수 있고 연중 수온도 비교적 일정해 탄소중립 이행에 중요한 열원"이라며 "하수처리시설의 에너지 자립 기반 조성에 하수열이 주요한 역할을 할 수 있도록 정책·제도적 지원을 이어가겠다"라고 밝혔다.
기후에너지환경부(장관 김성환)는 세종특별자치시(시장 조상호) 및 한국지역난방공사(사장 하동근)와 9월 28일 오후 세종시청에서 '바이오가스·하수열 활용을 통한 하수처리시설 에너지 자립 기반 조성을 위한 업무협약'을 체결한다고 발표했다. 이번 협약은 세종수질복원센터A에서 버려지던 하수열과 바이오가스 등 미활용 에너지를 활성화하기 위해 마련됐다.
세종수질복원센터A의 하루 평균 방류수량 약 5만 9천 톤을 전량 활용할 경우 연간 약 10만 5천 기가칼로리(Gcal)의 열을 회수할 수 있으며, 이는 약 1만 7천 세대의 연간 열 공급량에 해당한다. 이번 사업을 통해 바이오가스로 전력을 생산하고 발전폐열과 하수열을 연계해 지역난방에 공급함으로써 세종시와 한국지역난방공사는 각각 연간 약 4억 5천만 원과 약 2억 원의 직·간접 편익을 얻을 것으로 예상된다.

When utilizing the entire daily average discharge volume of about 59,000 tons of the Sejong Water Restoration Center A last year, about 105,000 gigacalories (Gcal) of heat can be recovered annually, which corresponds to the annual heat supply for about 17,000 households. Through this project, electricity will be produced through biogas first, and power generation waste heat and sewage heat will be linked to supply 1 Gcal of heat per hour to district heating, through which Sejong City and Korea District Heating Corporation expect direct and indirect benefits of about 450 million won and about 200 million won per year, respectively.
For the successful promotion of this project, Sejong City will cooperate in administrative support required for project promotion, such as providing a demonstration site, biogas, and sewage treated water, as well as licensing and permits.
