[광명/CTN]김지우 기자= 김충한 광복회 광명시지회장은 "역사를 기억하는 것은 과거에 머무르는 것이 아니라 더 나은 대한민국의 미래를 만들어가는 출발점"이라며 "이번 행사로 시민 모두가 역사적 교훈을 되새기길 바란다"라고 말했다. 광명시와 광복회 광명시지회는 경술국치일을 맞아 '찬 흰죽 먹기 행사'를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

찬 흰죽 먹기 행사는 1910년 8월 29일 일제에 국권을 빼앗긴 뒤 선조들이 국가적 치욕을 잊지 않고 독립 의지를 다지기 위해 검은 옷을 입고 찬 흰죽을 나누던 데서 유래했다.

광복회원들은 철산역과 광명사거리역 일대에서 시민 300여 명에게 흰죽을 나눠주며 경술국치의 역사적 의미를 알렸다.

이어 김충한 회장과 황희민 광명시 돌봄복지국장은 광복회원, 광명소방서 직원들과 함께 광명소방서 구내식당에서 찬 흰죽을 시식하며 선열들의 희생과 독립의 의미를 공유했다.

황희민 돌봄복지국장은 "함께 흰죽을 나누며 116년 전 나라를 잃었던 아픔을 기억할 수 있어 의미가 깊다"라며 "우리 역사와 나라의 소중함을 되돌아보는 계기가 되길 바란다"라고 전했다.

한편 광명시는 오는 29일 경술국치일에 시 본청과 동 행정복지센터 등에 조기를 게양해 국권을 잃었던 역사를 기억하고 선열들의 희생을 기릴 예정이다.

Gwangmyeong City and the association announced they hosted a 'Cold Rice Porridge Eating Event' to mark National Humiliation Day.

The practice originates from 1910 when ancestors wore black clothes and shared cold rice porridge after losing national sovereignty to Japan on August 29 to strengthen their resolve for independence.

Association members distributed cold rice porridge to about 300 citizens near Cheolsan Station and Gwangmyeong Saegeori Station to raise awareness of the historical day.

Later, President Kim and Hee-min Hwang, Director of the Care and Welfare Bureau of Gwangmyeong City, joined local firefighters at the Gwangmyeong Fire Station cafeteria to share the meal and honor the sacrifices of independence fighters.

Director Hwang noted, "Sharing cold rice porridge helps us reflect on the pain of losing our nation 116 years ago, serving as a meaningful opportunity to cherish our history."

Meanwhile, Gwangmyeong City plans to fly flags at half-mast at its main city hall and neighborhood administrative welfare centers on August 29 to honor the sacrifices of patriots.
