◆ 노인 교통복지 체계 전면 재검토
‘서울 노인교통복지 위원회’ 발족 서울시는 노인 교통복지 체계를 전면 재검토하기 위해 '서울 노인교통복지 위원회'를 구성하고 8월 19일 1차 회의를 개최했다. 김영원 위원장(숙명여대 교수)을 비롯해 시의원, 노인·청년 대표, 전문가, 언론 등 총 10인으로 구성된 위원회는 지하철 무임 연령 상향 및 고령자 버스비 지원 등 핵심 정책 대안과 재정 지속가능성을 종합 검토한다.

이날 회의에서는 지하철 무임손실 급증에 따른 연령 기준 조정 필요성과 함께 저소득 취약계층 보완대책이 논의됐다. 또한, 대구시의 어르신 통합무임교통 지원사업 사례 분석 및 시민 77.0%가 지하철 무임승차 연령 상향과 70세 이상 버스요금 지원에 찬성한 서울연구원의 여론조사 결과가 공유됐다. 위원회는 향후 소위원회 심층토론과 150명 이상이 참여하는 시민 토론회를 거쳐 사회적 합의를 도출할 계획이다.

◆ DDP를 채우는 K-컬처의 빛
'서울라이트 DDP 2026 가을' 개최 서울디자인재단은 오는 9월 3일부터 13일까지 11일간 동대문디자인플라자(DDP)에서 <서울라이트 DDP 2026 가을>을 개최한다. 이번 가을 시즌의 주제는 ‘K-Original Light’로, 백남준, 유영국, 『청구영언』 등 한국 문화의 원형과 창조성을 미디어아트로 구현한다.

특히 이번 행사에서는 서울라이트 DDP 최초로 아티스트의 라이브 퍼포먼스와 실시간 반응형 미디어아트가 결합된다. 개막일 이디오테잎(IDIOTAPE)을 비롯해 SION, HYPNOSIS THERAPY, SOULSCAPE 등 다양한 뮤지션의 디제잉 공연이 DDP 파사드 영상과 어우러져 거대한 빛의 공연장을 연출한다. 관람은 매일 오후 7시 30분부터 10시 30분까지 무료로 진행된다.

◆ AI 시대를 준비하는 배움의 장
'서울 AI 인문담론 2' 개최 서울시평생교육진흥원은 '과실연 AI 미래포럼'과 협력하여 오는 9월 1일 서울시민대학 동남권캠퍼스에서 ‘서울 AI 인문담론 2 : AI시대, 일의 미래’를 개최한다. 이번 행사는 AI 기술이 기업과 노동 시장에 미치는 영향을 다각도로 분석하고 시민들과 소통하기 위해 마련됐다.

1부에서는 류정혜 의장의 ‘AI시대, 기업과 일의 미래’, 엄태웅 의장의 ‘피지컬 AI 시대, 노동의 미래’ 기조 강연이 진행되며, 2부에서는 김승일 대표의장의 진행으로 전문가와 시민 간 대담이 이어진다. 참가비는 무료이며 서울시평생학습포털을 통해 선착순 30명을 모집한다.

◆ Complete Review of Senior Transport Welfare System… Launch of 'Seoul Senior Transport Welfare Committee' To comprehensively review the senior transport welfare system, Seoul formed the 'Seoul Senior Transport Welfare Committee' and held its first meeting on August 19. Composed of 10 members—including Chairman Young-won Kim (Professor at Sookmyung Women's University), city council members, senior/youth representatives, experts, and media figures—the committee aims to review core policy alternatives such as raising the eligible age for free subway rides and introducing bus fare support for seniors.
The meeting addressed the need to adjust the age threshold due to surging free-ride deficits, alongside support measures for low-income vulnerable groups. Case studies from Daegu’s integrated free transit program were shared, along with a survey by the Seoul Institute showing that 77.0% of respondents support raising the free subway ride age while offering bus fare support to seniors aged 70 and above. The committee plans to hold subcommittee discussions and a public forum with over 150 participants to build social consensus.
◆ K-Culture Lights Up DDP… 'Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn' Opens Seoul Design Foundation will hold at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) for 11 days, from September 3 to September 13. The autumn theme, 'K-Original Light,' transforms the archetypes and creativity of Korean culture—such as Nam June Paik, Yoo Young-kuk, and Cheonggu Yeongeon—into media art.
For the first time, live artist performances will be integrated with real-time responsive media art. Starting with IDIOTAPE on opening day, live DJ sets by SION, HYPNOSIS THERAPY, and SOULSCAPE will interact with the DDP facade visuals. The event runs daily from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM with free admission.
◆ Preparing for the AI Era… 'Seoul AI Humanities Discourse 2' Held The Seoul Institute for Lifelong Education, in collaboration with the 'AI Future Forum,' will hold 'Seoul AI Humanities Discourse 2: The Future of Work in the AI Era' on September 1 at the Southeast Campus of Seoul Citizens Hall. The event is designed to analyze the impact of AI on corporations and the labor market.
Part 1 features keynote speeches by Co-Chairs Jeong-hye Ryu ('The Future of Enterprises and Work in the AI Era') and Tae-woong Um ('The Future of Labor in the Physical AI Era'). Part 2 features an interactive Q&A session between citizens and experts led by Representative Chair Seung-il Kim. Participation is free, with registration open to the first 30 applicants on the Seoul Lifelong Learning Portal.
