평택시(시장 최원용)와 더불어민주당 평택을 지역위원회(위원장 김용남)는 지난 9월 22일 당정협의회를 열고 평택의 미래 발전을 위한 주요 과제를 공유하며 당정 간 소통과 협력을 강화하기로 합의했다. 이번 협의회에는 최원용 시장과 시 간부 공무원, 김용남 위원장, 도·시의원 등이 참석했다.
이번 회의에서는 국·도비 확보 대응을 비롯해 신안산선 안중 연장, KTX 경기남부역사, 현덕지구, 평택호 관광단지, 화양지구, 신청사 및 시의회 건립 등 평택 미래를 위한 핵심 사업들이 폭넓게 다뤄졌다. 양측은 주요 사업의 원활한 추진을 위해 주민 의견을 공유하고 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.
특히 최원용 시장은 평택의 미래 성장 동력이 서부지역에 있음을 강조하며 서부지역에 대한 집중 투자와 개선 의지를 명확히 했다. 이에 김용남 위원장은 주요 사업들이 결실을 볼 수 있도록 중앙당 차원의 관심과 지원을 끌어내는 데 최선을 다하겠다고 화답했다.

The party and government examined necessary support items and response directions for the smooth implementation of major projects. The local committee actively shared residents' opinions felt on the ground after listening to the city's project explanations, and continued in-depth communication by discussing the city's stance on major pending issues alongside various opinions from the local committee.
Furthermore, they agreed to share information frequently regarding matters requiring joint response, such as securing budgets and consulting with related organizations, and to join forces so that local opinions are reflected in the project implementation process.
Mayor Won-yong Choi stated, "For the development of Pyeongtaek, examining local tasks together and continuous communication and cooperation are essential," adding, "We will actively reflect the opinions provided by the local committee." He further expressed his determination, stating, "Everyone agrees that Pyeongtaek's future growth engine and potential lie in the western region, but there are still many areas lacking in balanced development," and "We will make concentrated investments in and improve the western region to substantially foster Pyeongtaek's growth engine."
Chairperson Yong-nam Kim stated, "We will join forces with the city so that key projects preparing for Pyeongtaek's future can bear fruit," and "We will strive to reflect interest and support for Pyeongtaek at the central party level, while working alongside local provincial and city council members to meet Pyeongtaek's development and citizens' expectations." He also expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to the efforts of the Mayor and public officials, Pyeongtaek is developing and changing."
Based on the opinions presented at this consultation, Pyeongtaek City and the Democratic Party of Korea Pyeongtaek Eul Local Committee plan to continue consultations on pending issues and jointly respond to difficulties arising during the project implementation process.
