[환경부/CTN]가요진 기자= 박정민 국립환경과학원 환경자원연구부장은 "기후위기 대응과 탄소중립 실현을 위해서는 폐기물의 단순 처리를 넘어 고부가가치 에너지로 전환하는 기술적 혁신이 필수적"이라며 "이번 국제학술대회를 계기로 국제협력을 더욱 공고히 하여 우리나라가 폐기물 에너지화 분야의 선도국가로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"라고 밝혔다.

올해 수도권 생활폐기물 직매립 금지 시행과 유기성 폐자원 바이오가스 생산목표제 확대에 맞춰, 학술대회에서는 AI 기술을 접목한 가연성·유기성 폐기물의 에너지화 및 탄소중립 대응 전략을 집중 조명한다. 첫날 사전 포럼을 시작으로 주요국 전문가들이 폐자원의 에너지·물질 회수 및 환경안전성을 통합 고려하는 융합적 정책 방향을 공유한다.
국립환경과학원은 주요국의 기술·제도 동향을 비교·검토하여 폐기물의 안정적 처리와 에너지 회수 확대를 뒷받침할 과학적 근거를 계속해서 구축해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.

In line with the 2026 ban on direct landfilling of municipal waste in the Seoul metropolitan area and the expansion of biogas production targets, the conference explores AI-integrated strategies for waste-to-energy and carbon neutrality. Beginning with a pre-forum on the first day, international speaker sessions address waste processing technologies alongside environmental safety and resource recovery.
The National Institute of Environmental Research plans to continuously build scientific foundations to support stable waste management and expand energy recovery across industrial sectors.
