행정중심복합도시건설청(청장 강주엽, 이하 행복청)은 9월 17일 일본 도쿄대학교 학생 및 교수진이 한국의 행정기능 이전 과정과 도시 건설 사례를 배우기 위해 행정중심복합도시(이하 행복도시)를 방문한다고 발표했다. 올해 들어 일본 관계자의 행복도시 방문은 지난 5월 외무성 출입기자단, 8월 도쿄도청 공무원 일행에 이어 이번이 세 번째다.
현재 일본에서는 도쿄 집중 현상을 완화하고 대규모 재난 시 수도 기능을 보완하기 위한 '부수도(副首都)' 논의가 이어지고 있다. 방문단은 행복도시 홍보관을 찾아 행정도시 조성 배경, 추진체계, 중앙행정기관 이전 과정 및 주요 도시기반시설에 대한 설명을 듣고 현장을 직접 살펴볼 예정이다.
행복청은 세종시 건설을 통해 축적된 정책 경험을 바탕으로 해외 각국의 도시개발 및 수도이전 정책과 연계한 국제협력을 지속해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.
