[국방부/CTN]가요진 기자= 배종호 국방홍보원장은 "국방저널이 보다 심층적인 콘텐츠를 통해 전군을 이끄는 간부들에게 국방·안보 분야의 나침반 역할을 할 수 있도록 하겠다"라며 "52년 역사를 이어온 대한민국 국방 전문 잡지로서 역사적 사명 또한 잊지 않겠다"라고 밝혔다.
국방홍보원(원장 배종호)은 지난 2023년 정간되었던 대한민국 최초의 국방 전문 잡지 '국방저널'을 3년여 만에 전격 복간했다고 발표했다. 이번 복간은 2040년까지 군 병력 내 간부 비율을 확대하는 국방부의 군 구조 개편 기조에 맞춰 '군 간부를 위한 국방 전문지'로서의 정체성을 한층 공고히 하고자 추진됐다.
복간호(통권 596호)는 헌법과 법률 준수의 중요성을 재조명하는 특별기획 '군과 헌법, 그리고 민주주의'를 비롯해 2027년 국방예산안 심층 분석, AI 해킹 현주소를 다룬 국제칼럼 등 무게감 있는 안보 콘텐츠를 담았다. 동시에 병영 독서모임 운영 노하우와 전문가 재테크 상담 등 군 간부들의 실제 삶과 밀착된 다채로운 코너도 선보인다.
특히 국방출판지원단과의 내부 협업을 통해 발행 비용을 종전 대비 3분의 1 수준으로 대폭 절감하는 한편, e-book 및 카카오톡 뉴스레터 등 모바일 중심의 최신 디지털 배포망을 구축했다. 아울러 52년의 역사적 가치를 보존하기 위해 창간호의 국가유산 등록을 신청하고 심사를 진행 중이다.

Concurrently, it offers practical lifestyle content, such as operational tips for barracks reading clubs and expert financial planning advice.
The agency drastically reduced publication costs to one-third of previous external contracting levels by collaborating internally with the Defense Publishing Support Group, while establishing digital distribution channels including e-books and KakaoTalk newsletters. Furthermore, an application has been submitted to register the magazine's inaugural 1974 issue as a national heritage artifact, with evaluations currently underway.
