전남광주통합특별시는 '2025년 시·도 자살예방 시행계획 추진실적 평가'에서 전국 1위 우수기관으로 선정돼 9월 10일 서울 웨스틴조선호텔에서 보건복지부 장관 표창을 받았다고 밝혔다.

이번 수상은 자살 고위험군 집중 관리, 정신응급 대응체계 구축, 자살예방팀 신설 등 지역 맞춤형 대책을 지속 추진해온 결과로 평가받는다.

통합특별시는 24시간 정신건강 위기상담전화 운영 및 경찰청 내 정신응급합동대응센터 구축 등 응급 대응력을 지속 강화해 왔다.

이러한 인프라 확충에 힘입어 2026년 2분기 기준 누적 자살 사망자 수는 406명으로 전년 동기(481명) 대비 15.6% 감소했다.

통합특별시는 9월 한 달간 '생명사랑 밤길걷기' 및 청년 대상 '휴가:온' 등 시민 참여형 캠페인을 전개할 예정이다.

전남광주통합특별시는 조기 발견 및 맞춤형 지원 체계를 보완해 생명존중 문화를 지역 사회 전반에 정착시켜 나갈 방침이라고 밝혔다.

Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City announced it received the Health and Welfare Minister's Commendation on September 10 after ranking first nationally in the 2025 regional suicide prevention evaluation.

The municipality established dedicated suicide prevention teams, 24/7 crisis hotlines, and mental health emergency response centers.

According to official data, accumulated suicide fatalities in the second quarter of 2026 reached 406, representing a 15.6% decrease compared to 481 in the same period last year.

The city plans to run life-respect public awareness campaigns throughout September, including night walks and youth-targeted mental health programs.

Jeonnam-Gwangju stated it will continually refine its early intervention frameworks to protect vulnerable residents.
