[CTN/정치]가금현 기자 = 국민의힘 성일종(충남 서산·태안), 이종배(충북 충주), 김형동(경북 안동·예천) 국회의원이 광주군공항 시설 및 병력의 충남 서산·충북 충주·경북 예천 지역 공군 비행장 임시 배치 계획을 강하게 비판하고 나섰다.

세 의원은 10일 국회 소통관에서 공동 기자회견을 열고 광주군공항 임시 이전 계획에 대해 “43만 지역민들의 고통을 외면하는 일방적인 결정”이라며 즉각적인 계획 중단을 촉구했다.

이날 기자회견은 광주군공항 이전을 둘러싼 지역 간 갈등이 새로운 국면으로 번질 가능성을 보여주는 자리였다.

대표로 기자회견문을 낭독한 성일종 의원은 광주군공항 시설과 군병력을 2028년 중순까지 서산과 충주, 예천의 공군 비행장으로 분산 배치하는 계획과 관련해 해당 지역 주민들이 이미 수십 년간 군용기 소음 피해를 감내해 왔다고 주장했다.

또 반도체 클러스터 사업 규모와 관련해 약 800조 원이 거론되고 있지만 전력과 용수 확보 등에 필요한 부대비용까지 고려할 경우 1,000조 원에 육박할 수 있다고 주장하며, 대규모 국가사업에 대한 보다 신중한 접근을 요구했다.

성 의원은 정부의 지역균형발전 정책에 대해서도 강도 높은 비판을 이어갔다.

그는 "치적 쌓기에 눈이 먼 이재명 대통령에게 43만 명이 넘는 서산·충주·예천 지역 주민들이 보이겠느냐"며 "호남은 섬겨야 하는 국민이고 소음피해 지역민들은 버려도 되는 2등 국민인가"라고 반문했다.

이는 광주·호남 지역의 산업 및 공항 관련 정책을 추진하는 과정에서 다른 지역 주민들의 희생을 전제로 해서는 안 된다는 취지의 주장이다.

세 의원은 군공항 임시 배치가 해당 지역의 정주 여건과 지역발전에도 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다고 주장했다.

성 의원은 "안그래도 지역발전에 어려움을 겪는 지역에 추가로 군공항을 이전하면 지역발전에 찬물을 끼얹는 일"이라며 우려를 나타냈다.

특히 전국의 군공항 가운데 서산·충주·예천 지역이 임시 이전 대상에 포함된 배경에 대해서도 의문을 제기하며 지역 선정 과정의 객관성과 형평성을 따져야 한다고 주장했다.

세 의원은 광주군공항 이전이라는 국가적 현안을 해결하기 위해 특정 지역 주민들에게 일방적인 부담을 지우는 방식은 지역 갈등을 더욱 심화시킬 수 있다고 지적했다.

그러면서 국가의 장기적인 미래와 직결되는 대규모 사업일수록 충분한 검토와 사회적 합의가 필요하다고 강조했다.

임시 이전에 필요한 비용과 시설 안전성도 이날 기자회견의 주요 쟁점으로 제기됐다.

세 의원은 임시 이전에 최소 3,169억 원 이상의 예산이 투입될 것으로 주장하면서, 군용기 격납고가 간이 구조·공법으로 건설될 경우 미사일과 드론 공격 등에 상대적으로 취약할 수 있다는 우려를 제기했다.

이들은 막대한 국민 세금을 투입하면서 국가안보 측면에서 충분한 검토가 이뤄지지 않는다면 또 다른 문제를 야기할 수 있다며 정부의 재검토를 요구했다.

다만 이 같은 비용 규모와 시설 안전성에 관한 내용은 이날 기자회견에서 국민의힘 의원들이 제시한 주장으로, 향후 정부와 국방부의 구체적인 사업계획 및 공식 자료를 통한 사실관계 확인이 필요하다.

세 의원은 정부가 지역 주민들의 반대와 우려를 외면한 채 계획을 강행할 경우 강력한 대응에 나서겠다고 밝혔다.
