국가보훈부는 2026년 본예산 대비 5,320억 원(8.0%) 증가한 7조 2,190억 원 규모의 2027년 소관 예산안을 편성했다고 9월 3일 밝혔다.

보훈부는 보상체계 강화와 보훈의료 확대, 국립묘지 대전환, 글로벌 K-보훈 실현, 국민 참여형 예우·문화사업 등 5대 중점 과제를 제시했다. 국가유공자 보상금은 5.0% 인상되며 참전명예수당, 무공영예수당, 4·19혁명공로수당은 각각 5만 원씩 인상된다. 또한 생존 애국지사와 독립유공자 유족 보상금이 추가 인상되고, 독립유공자 유족 인정 범위가 내년 1월부터 최소 2대(代)까지 확대된다.

의료 복지 확대를 위해 선순위 유족의 위탁병원 지원 연령을 75세에서 65세로 하향 조정하고, 위탁의료기관을 2027년까지 1,400개소로 확대한다. 효창공원 일대를 2029년까지 '국립효창독립공원'으로 재단장하기 위한 추진위원회가 운영되며, 전국 12개 국립묘지의 친환경·안전 관리도 강화된다.아시아 최초로 유치한 2029 세계상이군인체육대회 조직위원회 출범과 유엔참전용사 재방한 초청 확대 등 보훈외교 사업도 추진된다. 아울러 독립기념관 개관 40주년 기념사업 등 국민참여예산 사업도 반영됐다.
