[순천/CTN]하성매 기자= 순천시 관계자가 행사 콘셉트 변경 취지를 설명하며 "행사에 사용할 예정이었던 물은 가뭄으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 농업 현장에 지원해 조금이나마 힘을 보태겠다"라며 "시민의 즐거움과 지역사회의 어려움을 함께 살피는 상생의 광장을 만들어가겠다"라고 밝혔다. 전라남도 순천시(시장 손훈모)는 가뭄 지속에 따라 8월 22일부터 열리는 ‘2026 주말의 광장 in 신대지구’ 축제의 물놀이 프로그램을 취소하고 해당 용수를 농가에 지원했다고 8월 13일 발표했다.
순천시에 따르면 이번 조치는 영농 현장의 가뭄 피해를 줄이고 불필요한 수자원 소비를 막기 위해 추진됐다.
시는 당초 예정됐던 물놀이 콘텐츠를 비눗방울 체험 프로그램으로 대체했다. 축제에 쓰려던 용수는 해룡면 일대 가뭄 피해 농가에 급수용으로 전달됐으며, 가수 공연과 체험 행사는 예정대로 진행한다고 덧붙였다.
