[경찰청/CTN]가요진 기자= 이승협 경찰청 범죄예방대응국장이 이번 단속의 의의를 강조하며 "올해 초 수사팀 정원을 40명 늘리고 강원과 제주에 수사팀을 신설한 성과가 고스란히 반영된 이번 특별단속은 성매매 알선 조직의 핵심구조를 해체하고 불법 수익을 끝까지 환수하겠다는 강력한 의지의 결과"라며 "앞으로도 관계기관과의 협력을 강화하는 동시에 고성능 PC 보급 등 단속과 수사에 집중할 수 있는 환경을 조성하기 위해 노력하겠다"라고 밝혔다. 경찰청(청장 직무대행 유재성)은 지난 6월 1일부터 7월 31일까지 2개월간 실시한 온·오프라인 성매매 특별단속 결과를 발표하고 총 761건, 1,666명을 검거했다고 발표했다.
경찰청에 따르면 이번 단속은 성평등부 및 지방정부와의 협업체계를 바탕으로 진행됐으며 검거 인원이 전년 대비 24% 증가했다.
특히 구속 인원은 28명으로 늘었고 기업형 성매매 단속 역시 50건으로 급증했다고 전했다. 또한 기소 전 몰수·추징 보전액 195억 원과 국세청 과세자료 700억 원 통보, 건물주 25명 입건 및 불법 사이트 11개 폐쇄 등 전방위 차단 성과를 거뒀다.
