조달청(청장 백승보)은 백승보 청장이 대전 카이스트 문지캠퍼스에 위치한 AI 기반 수술로봇 개발 기업 주식회사 로엔서지컬을 방문했다고 발표했다. 조달청에 따르면 이번 방문은 AI·로봇 등 첨단 기술기업의 현장 목소리를 청취하고 혁신조달을 통한 공공 판로 확대 방안을 논의하고자 추진됐다.

로엔서지컬의 '신장결석 수술로봇(자메닉스)'은 2025년 조달청 혁신제품으로 지정되어 현재 국립중앙의료원에서 시범구매를 통한 실증 사업을 진행 중이다. 백 청장은 AI 로봇 수술 시연을 참관하고 첨단제품의 상용화 지원 방안을 논의했다고 덧붙였다.

이처럼 AI와 로봇이 결합된 첨단 의료기기 개발 현장을 조달청장이 직접 방문해 성능 시연을 확인하고, 공공기관 시범구매 제도를 통해 국립병원 등에서의 실증 기회를 제공하며 공공 판로 개척을 모색하는 것은 신산업 육성 차원에서 의미 있는 행정 행보로 볼 수 있다.

다만 이미 지정된 혁신제품의 시범구매 실증 현장을 둘러보며 시연을 관람하는 단발성 방문을 두고, 마치 조달청이 첨단 산업 전반을 주도적으로 키워내는 것처럼 부풀려 '전방위 지원'을 공언하는 것은 전형적인 생색내기식 보여주기 행정이라는 지적을 피하기 어렵다. 단순히 현장을 찾아 사진을 찍고 수사적인 지원 약속을 남발할 것이 아니라, 혁신제품 실증 이후 실제 공공의료기관의 본구매로 이어질 수 있도록 조달 배점 가점을 파격적으로 확대하고 해외 인증 및 수출 인프라를 직접 연계하는 등 기업이 현장에서 당장 체감할 수 있는 실질적인 제도 개선이 우선되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

Critics point out that visiting sites to watch demonstrations and framing routine pilot programs as "all-round support" borders on administrative showmanship and excessive self-praise. Rather than relying on publicity visits or rhetorical support promises, the agency needs practical measures, such as dramatically expanding procurement evaluation points to convert pilot testing into actual public hospital purchases and directly linking global certification support.
