[국방부/CTN]가요진 기자= 국방부와 방위사업청이 조직 보강에 따른 국방 정책 추진 의지를 밝히며 "이번 조직 보강을 바탕으로 국민께 약속한 핵추진잠수함 개발을 더욱 속도감 있게 추진해 나갈 것이다"라며 "군 정보기관에 대한 민주적 통제를 바탕으로 각 기관이 본연의 임무에 전념할 수 있는 여건을 마련하는 등 주요 국방정책을 효과적으로 추진해 나가도록 노력하겠다"라고 밝혔다. 국방부와 방위사업청은 '국방부와 그 소속기관 직제' 및 '방위사업청과 그 소속기관 직제' 개정안이 8월 11일 국무회의에서 의결됐다고 발표했다.
국방부 및 방사청에 따르면 이번 개정안은 지난 5월 발표된 대한민국 핵추진잠수함 개발 기본계획을 이행하기 위한 전담 조직 신설을 골자로 한다.
국방부에는 특별법 제정과 미국 및 국제원자력기구 협의를 총괄할 '핵추진잠수함정책기획단'이 신설된다. 방위사업청은 기존 사업단을 '핵추진잠수함사업단'으로 확대하고 하부에 사업팀들을 신설해 설계와 원자로 개발을 전담하도록 했다. 아울러 국방부 차관 직속으로 '정보보안정책관'을 신설해 군 정보기관에 대한 지도·감독 기능을 강화한다고 덧붙였다.
