[광양/CTN]하성매 기자= 정인화 광양시장이 국가유산청 방문 목적을 밝히며 "이번에 건의한 문화유산의 역사적 의미를 온전히 보존하는 것은 광양의 정체성을 확립하는 중요한 일이다"라며 "지역 문화유산이 국민 모두가 향유할 수 있는 문화·교육의 장으로 거듭나도록 국가유산청의 지속적인 관심과 다각적인 지원을 바란다"라고 밝혔다. 전라남도 광양시(시장 정인화)는 8월 10일 국가유산청을 방문해 주요 문화유산 현안 사업에 대한 국비 지원과 협조를 요청했다고 발표했다.
광양시에 따르면 이번 방문은 국보 '광양 중흥산성 쌍사자 석등'의 원위치 환원과 지역 문화유산 가치 재조명을 위해 추진됐다.
시는 일제강점기에 반출되어 현재 국립광주박물관에 있는 쌍사자 석등의 광양 반환을 요청했다. 아울러 옥룡 백운사 소장 '목조아미타여래좌상'의 보물 지정과 '광양 마로산성 재난안전시설 구축사업' 국비 지원을 건의했다고 덧붙였다.
