[개인정보위/CTN]가요진 기자= 송경희 개인정보보호위원장이 정책 추진 배경을 밝히며 "인공지능 시대 개인정보가 안전하게 보호되면서도 국민과 사회에 도움이 되는 방향으로 데이터가 책임 있게 활용될 수 있도록 새로운 균형을 만들어 가는 것이 개인정보위의 역할이다"라며 "국민이 함께 참여하는 현장 중심의 정책형성을 통해 국민이 체감하는 제도 혁신을 추진해 나가겠다"라고 밝혔다. 개인정보보호위원회(위원장 송경희)는 인공지능 환경 심화에 대응해 개인정보 제도 혁신 절차에 착수하고 8월 6일부터 국민 정책 제안 접수를 실시한다고 발표했다.
개인정보위에 따르면 1990년대 도입된 동의 중심의 규율 체계가 현 데이터 처리 환경과 맞지 않아 국민 불편과 산업적 한계를 유발한다는 지적이 지속됐다.
