국민권익위에 따르면 첫 번째 사례는 경기도 과천시 과천시민광장 주변 도로의 차선규제봉으로 인해 차량 바퀴가 파손된 민원이다. 해당 도로는 소유자인 공무원연금공단과 점용자인 과천청사관리소, 과천시 간의 관리 주체가 명확하지 않아 피해보상을 둘러싸고 5차례나 책임기관 논쟁이 반복되며 처리가 장기간 지연됐다. 권익위가 관계기관 담당자 회의를 주재한 끝에 과천시와 과천청사관리소가 피해보상 절차를 추진하기로 합의했다.

두 번째 사례는 경기도 고양시 경의선 철도 부지 내 위험 수목으로 인한 주민 재산 피해 민원이다. 방치된 아카시아나무로 사유지 담장이 파손되는 등 긴급 조치가 필요했으나 철도시설 유지보수 계약 범위 규정이 명확하지 않아 조치가 미뤄졌다. 권익위의 협조 요청 이후 국토교통부와 한국철도공사, 국가철도공단이 긴급회의를 열어 8월까지 수목 제거를 완료하고 조경시설 관리지침을 개정하기로 결정했다. 권익위는 이번 사례를 계기로 처리기관이 불명확한 민원에 대해 즉각적인 조율에 착수할 방침이라고 덧붙였다.

이처럼 다수 기관이 얽혀 처리가 지연되던 복합민원에 권익위가 개입해 기관 간 협의를 도출하고 제도 개선을 이끌어낸 것은 국민 불편을 해소하는 조치로 평가된다.
