eosan Out-of-School Youth Support Center Provides 250 Textbooks to 20 Youths

SEOSAN, South Korea — The Seosan Out-of-School Youth Support Center (Director Yoo In-hwa) announced that it is implementing a textbook support program aimed at helping out-of-school youths continue their studies and expand opportunities for academic certification, in line with the Ministry of Education¡¯s textbook support initiative.
The center conducted an online textbook demand survey beginning on May 18 and, based on the results, will provide a total of 250 textbooks to 20 youths. Textbooks for elementary and high school levels were distributed on June 2, while middle school textbooks are scheduled to be distributed on June 4.
This support program was made possible through active cooperation from the Seosan Office of Education and local schools. Schools promptly checked their remaining textbook inventories and reviewed available resources, while the Seosan Office of Education coordinated the collection and distribution of textbooks among schools to ensure that learning materials reached the youths in a timely manner.
The initiative carries significance beyond simple textbook distribution, as it demonstrates the local community¡¯s collective effort to address educational blind spots. Many out-of-school youths face challenges in obtaining study materials needed for academic continuity and preparation for the General Educational Development (GED) examination due to economic and environmental constraints.
Director Yoo In-hwa expressed gratitude, saying, ¡°I sincerely thank the Seosan Office of Education and school officials for their active cooperation in guaranteeing the learning rights and healthy growth of out-of-school youths. Thanks to the prompt identification and support of surplus textbooks by schools, we were able to deliver the necessary materials to youths in a timely manner.¡±
Meanwhile, the Seosan Out-of-School Youth Support Center plans to launch its GED preparation program, ¡®Smart Classroom,¡¯ on June 8. The center also provides a variety of customized services, including individual counseling, career exploration programs, and support for obtaining professional certifications. Moving forward, it will continue to work closely with the local community to support the healthy development and successful social integration of out-of-school youths.
