[경주/CTN]이수현 기자= 경주시는 9월 28일 경상북도를 방문해 이철우 경상북도지사와 면담을 갖고, APEC 정상회의 후속사업과 방폐장 유치지역지원사업 재편, 생활 인프라 확충 등 지역의 미래 성장과 시민 생활여건 개선을 위한 7개 주요 현안에 대해 적극적인 지원을 요청했다고 밝혔다.
이번 면담에서는 2025 APEC 정상회의 개최 성과를 지역 성장 동력으로 연결하기 위한 'APEC 정상회의 기념관(문화의 전당)' 조성을 비롯해 장기간 답보 상태인 방폐장 유치지역지원사업의 실효성 제고 방안이 중점적으로 논의되었다. 시는 미시행 사업을 '경주 테크노폴리스 조성사업'으로 전환해 동경주지역의 산업·일자리 및 정주 기반을 확충하고, 경주종합운동장 건립 변경승인과 예술창작소 조성의 차질 없는 추진을 건의했다.
아울러 시민 생활과 직결된 인프라 개선을 위해 동경주 지역 도시가스 공급권역 조정, 광역정수장 증설 및 형산강 보조취수시설 개량·확장사업의 필요성을 설명했다. 또한 정부의 2차 공공기관 지방이전에 대비해 경주의 산업·연구·문화 기반과 연계할 수 있는 공공기관이 전략적으로 배치될 수 있도록 경북도 차원의 지원을 요청했다.
경주시는 앞으로도 경상북도와 긴밀한 협력 체계를 유지하며 주요 현안 사업들을 차질 없이 추진해 지역 발전과 시민 삶의 질 향상을 이끌어낼 방침이라고 밝혔다.
