[교육부/CTN]가요진 기자= 이윤홍 교육부 인공지능인재지원국장은 "학생들이 이공계 진로를 선택하기 위해서는 교실에서 배우는 과학과 수학이 현장에서 어떻게 활용되는지 직접 경험해 보는 것이 중요하다"라며 "참여 학생들이 다양한 현장과 전문가를 접하며 스스로 질문하고 탐구하는 이공계 전문가로 성장하길 기대한다"라고 말했다. 교육부와 한국과학창의재단은 9월 3일부터 4일까지 서울, 대전 등지에서 '2026년 이공계 스텝인 프로젝트' 진로 체험 프로그램을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 중학생들이 이공계 분야를 단계별로 탐색할 수 있도록 기획된 프로그램의 일환으로, 전국 중학생과 지도교사 73개 팀 400여 명이 참가했다. 참가자들은 수도권과 충청권에 위치한 대학, 기업, 연구기관 등 총 13개 과정 중 3개 코스를 선택해 현장 체험을 진행한다.
주요 체험 분야로는 연세대 K-NIBRT 센터 및 신신제약 연구소 중심의 바이오·의약 분야, 명지대 반도체센터의 반도체 분야, KAIST 우주연구원 및 한국항공우주연구원의 항공·우주 분야 등이 포함됐다. 학생들은 현직 연구자들과의 멘토링을 통해 실무 현장을 파악하고 적성을 탐색하는 시간을 가진다.
아울러 참가 팀들은 체험 내용을 바탕으로 향후 수행할 진로 탐구 과제의 방향을 구체화하는 진로 설계 워크숍에 참여한다. 교육부와 창의재단은 이번 진로 체험을 시작으로 온라인 멘토링, 팀 프로젝트, 성과 공유회 등을 연말까지 순차적으로 추진할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

Additionally, participating teams join career design workshops to outline their upcoming team research projects. The Ministry of Education and KOFAC stated that following this initial field experience, they plan to sequentially roll out online mentoring, team projects, and result-sharing exhibitions through the end of the year.
