[재경부/CTN]가요진 기자= 구윤철 부총리 겸 재정경제부 장관은 "중동전쟁 장기화 등 대외 불확실성 속에서도 한국경제는 안정적으로 성장하고 있으며, AI 등 미래산업 투자와 공급망 안정화를 통해 포스트 중동전쟁 시대를 대비하고 있다"라며 "AI를 새로운 성장동력으로 육성하기 위한 '3대 메가프로젝트'와 국민성장펀드를 통해 성장잠재력을 확충해 나가겠다"라고 말했다. 재정경제부는 구 부총리가 8월 31일부터 9월 1일까지 미국 노스캐롤라이나주 애슈빌에서 열린 2026년도 제2차 G20 재무장관·중앙은행 총재 회의에 참석했다고 밝혔다.

구 부총리는 성장정책 세션에서 주력산업의 AI 전환과 구조개혁을 통한 중장기 성장 전략을 소개했다. 또한 '글로벌 불균형 스터디그룹' 공동의장국으로서 산업지형 재편을 고려한 원인 분석과 흑자국-적자국 간 동시 노력의 필요성을 피력했으며, 부채 세션에서는 채권자 간 공정한 부담 분담과 채무국 구조개혁을 강조했다.

회의 기간 구 부총리는 주요국 재무 수장들과 연쇄 양자 면담을 실시했다. 스콧 베센트 미국 재무장관과 양국 금융시장 동향을 논의했으며, 존 힐리 영국 재무장관과는 2027~2028년 연이어 G20 의장국을 수임함에 따른 트로이카 공조 방안을 협의했다. 롤랑 레스퀴르 프랑스 재무장관 및 잔카를로 조르제티 이탈리아 재무장관과는 대외 불확실성 대응 방안을 논의했다.

이어 니르말라 싯타르만 인도 재무장관에게는 올해 하반기 한국에서 '한-인도 재무장관회의' 개최를 제안해 긍정적인 반응을 얻었다. 알리 빈 아흐메드 알-쿠와리 카타르 재무장관 및 발디스 돔브로브스키스 EU 집행위원과는 에너지 공급망과 경제안보 협력 방안을 다각도로 논의했다.

재정경제부는 이번 회의 결과가 미국 의장국 성명으로 정리되어 발표됐으며, 글로벌 현안 해결을 위한 책임 있는 역할을 지속해 나갈 방침이라고 밝혔다.

During the sessions, DPM Ku outlined Korea's AI transformation strategy for key industries and structural reform measures. As co-chair of the Global Imbalance Study Group, he delivered a keynote address advocating simultaneous efforts by both surplus and deficit nations while calling for fair burden-sharing among creditors in the debt session.

DPM Ku also held bilateral meetings with financial leaders. He discussed financial market trends with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and agreed on G20 Troika cooperation with British Finance Minister John Healey. Meetings with French and Italian finance ministers focused on mitigating global economic uncertainties.

Additionally, DPM Ku proposed resuming the Korea-India Finance Ministers' Meeting in Korea later this year during talks with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Discussions with Qatari Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari and EU Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis centered on energy supply chains and strategic economic security.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy stated that the meeting outcomes were published in the Chair's Statement and that Korea will continue taking responsible roles in addressing global issues.
