[경기/CTN]김지우 기자= 김남수 경기도 건강증진과장이 학교 현장의 알레르기 대응 방침을 밝히며 "아나필락시스는 아이들의 생명을 좌우하는 만큼 현장 대응력이 핵심이다"라며 "앞으로도 도교육청 및 전문기관과 긴밀히 협력해 우리 아이들이 알레르기 질환으로부터 안전한 교육환경을 만들어 가겠다"라고 밝혔다. 경기도는 도내 유·초·중·고·특수학교 보건교사 1,655명을 대상으로 아나필락시스 등 알레르기 응급상황 대응 역량 강화 교육을 마쳤다고 8월 1일 발표했다.
경기도에 따르면 이번 교육은 최근 소아청소년층의 식품 알레르기 및 아나필락시스 발생 증가에 대응해 학교 현장의 안전 체계를 강화하고자 마련됐다.
교육은 지난 7월 10일부터 총 14회에 걸쳐 진행됐으며, 2018년 이후 8년 만에 추진된 대규모 실습 교육이다. 전문의들이 강사로 나서 아나필락시스 진단 기준과 응급처치법을 강의하고, 보건교사들이 교육용 모형을 활용해 자가주사용 에피네프린을 직접 주사해보는 체험형 실습을 병행했다고 덧붙였다.
이처럼 소아청소년 연령층에서 치명적인 아나필락시스 발생이 늘어나는 상황에서 학교 보건의 핵심인 보건교사들을 소집해 에피네프린 투여 등 실질적인 응급처치 실습 교육을 진행한 것은 학교 안전망 강화 차원에서 필요한 조치로 볼 수 있다.
다만 법 개정 이후 무려 8년 만에야 대규모 실습 교육을 진행해놓고, 마치 경기도가 학생 안전을 위해 엄청난 선제적 조치를 취한 것처럼 포장하며 생색을 내는 것은 전형적인 뒷북 행정이자 치적 부풀리기라는 지적을 피하기 어렵다. 보건교사 일부에 한정된 단발성 소집 교육에 골몰할 것이 아니라, 담임교사를 포함한 모든 교직원이 에피네프린 주사법을 상시 숙지하도록 교육을 의무화하고 모든 교실에 응급약품 키트를 비치하는 등 학부모들이 현장에서 당장 체감할 수 있는 실질적인 안심 대책이 우선되어야 할 것으로 보인다.
