[인천/CTN]주대호 기자= 김영신 인천시 국제협력국장은 "세계 각국의 경제인들이 모이는 이번 세계한상대회는 인천의 글로벌 MICE 역량을 증명할 최고의 무대"라며 "700만 재외동포들과 함께 2028 G20 정상회의 인천 유치 열기를 지펴내는 데 최선을 다하겠다"라고 밝혔다.
인천광역시(시장 박찬대)는 2028년 G20 정상회의 유치를 위해 전 세계 700만 재외동포들과 함께 본격적인 현장 서명운동에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
시는 9월 27일부터 10월 1일까지 송도컨벤시아에서 개최되는 '제24회 세계한상대회' 등 세계한인주간 행사 기간 동안 G20 정상회의 인천 유치를 위한 현장 서명 인포 데스크를 운영한다. 재외동포청과 인천시가 공동 주관하는 이번 대회는 국내외 경제인 약 3,000여 명이 참가하는 대표적인 대규모 국제 행사다.
인천시는 고국을 방문한 한인 대표와 경제인들을 대상으로 인천의 우수한 공항 인프라, 글로벌 수준의 컨벤션 시설, 검증된 국제행사 운영 역량을 집중적으로 알리고 있다. 현장을 찾은 재외동포 참가자들 역시 인천이 G20을 성공적으로 치러낼 최적의 도시라며 유치 서명에 적극 참여하는 등 든든한 지지의 뜻을 표했다.
앞으로 시는 G20 인천 유치 TF를 중심으로 중앙부처 및 유관기관과의 공조 체계를 강화하고, 유치 신청에 필요한 분야별 핵심 자료 발굴과 현지 실사 대응에 집중할 계획이다. 아울러 대회 종료 후에도 군·구 지역 축제와 연계한 서명운동, 유튜브 쇼츠 등 뉴미디어 콘텐츠, 주요 관문 전광판 홍보를 통해 305만 인천시민과 700만 재외동포의 공감대를 확산시켜 나갈 방침이다.
오는 2028년 11월 개최 예정인 G20 정상회의는 향후 공모 절차를 거쳐 최종 개최 도시가 선정된다. 유치 성공 시 본회의를 포함해 연중 100여 일 이상의 장관급·실무 회의가 열려 약 1만 5,000여 명의 방문객이 찾을 것으로 예상되며, 이에 따른 지역 경제 활성화와 도시 브랜드 제고 효과가 기대된다.

Indeed, overseas Korean leaders and OK BIZ businesspeople attending this convention expressed their strong support by actively participating in the hosting signature, stating that Incheon is the optimal city to successfully hold the G20 Summit.
Incheon Metropolitan City plans to strengthen its cooperation system with central government ministries and related organizations centered on the G20 Incheon Hosting Task Force, discover key field-specific materials required for the hosting application, collaborate with other cities and provinces, prepare for on-site inspections, and promote online and offline publicity.
Furthermore, even after the convention, the city plans to continue the signature campaign in connection with local festivals in each district and county, while actively utilizing new media content such as promotional materials and YouTube Shorts.
In addition, the city plans to concentrate its capabilities on spreading empathy among 3.05 million Incheon citizens and 7 million overseas Koreans by conducting all-out promotional campaigns through electronic display boards along major gateway routes such as the Airport Expressway and Incheon Bridge.

Meanwhile, the G20 Summit scheduled for November 2028 will finally select its host city through a public bidding process in the future. If successful in hosting, relevant ministerial and working-level meetings will be held for more than 100 days throughout the year in addition to the main summit, and approximately 10,000 to 15,000 people including heads of state, delegations, and journalists will visit Incheon, which is expected to bring enormous ripple effects to local economic activation and city brand enhancement.
