[새만금청/CTN]가요진 기자= 문성요 새만금개발청장은 "이번 AI DC 건축심의는 현대자동차그룹의 새만금 투자 이행이 가시화되는 첫 출발점이다"라며 "전문가들의 심의를 거쳐 안전하고 효율적인 건축물이 만들어질 수 있도록 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"라고 말했다.
새만금개발청은 현대자동차그룹이 새만금 1산단 7공구에 추진하는 인공지능 데이터센터(AI DC) 건축계획안에 대한 건축심의에 착수했다고 9월 22일 밝혔다.
현대차그룹은 지난 2월 자율주행 및 로봇 학습 지원용 GPU 5만 장 규모의 AI DC(5.8조 원)를 포함해 로봇 제조공장, 수전해 플랜트, 태양광발전 등 총 9조 원 규모의 새만금 투자를 발표했다.
이번에 심의하는 AI DC는 대지면적 150,312㎡, 연면적 101,950㎡, 지상 2층 규모의 방송통신시설로, 피지컬 AI 기술 개발을 위한 핵심 인프라로 활용된다.
새만금개발청은 건축계획, 구조안전, 교통 등 각 분야 전문가 30명으로 건축위원회를 구성했으며, 10월 중 서면 심의 결과를 도출할 예정이다.
새만금개발청은 심의 결과를 바탕으로 건축허가와 산단 입주 절차를 병행해 연내 건축허가를 마무리하고 2027년 3월 착공을 지원할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
