[공정위/CTN]가요진 기자= 김상현 공정거래위원회 경제분석담당관은 "온라인 플랫폼과 AI 등 신기술은 소비자 선택, 거래 관행, 시장구조에 심대한 영향을 끼치고 있다"라며 "이번 학회에선 전통적 주제부터 신기술이 경쟁에 미치는 영향까지 폭넓게 논의되어 전 세계 경쟁 당국에 중요한 통찰을 제공할 것으로 보인다"라고 말했다. 공정거래위원회는 8월 28일 KAIST 서울캠퍼스에서 한국계량경제학회와 함께 '디지털 시대의 경쟁정책'을 주제로 공동 학술대회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 공동 학술대회는 경제학계 전문가들과 공정위 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 플랫폼 경제 확산에 따른 독과점 규제 및 경쟁정책 방향을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다. 행사에는 인영환 한국계량경제학회장과 사회를 맡은 신은철 KAIST 교수를 비롯해 학계 전문가들이 참석했다.
학술대회에서는 총 세 가지 주제에 대한 연구 발표가 진행됐다. 연세대학교 고성욱 교수가 '차별화된 과점 시장에서의 수요 함수의 형태가 비용 전가에 미치는 영향'을 발표했으며, 홍콩중문대학교 윤준상 교수가 '소비자 대출 시장에서 시각적인 요소가 선택에 미치는 영향'을 다뤘다. 이어 KDI 국제정책대학원 김정열 교수가 '규제 환경에서의 AI 가격 책정 행태'를 주제로 발제에 나섰다.
발제 이후 진행된 토론에는 고려대학교 이진혁 교수, 전남대학교 신위뢰 교수, 공정위 김상현 경제분석담당관이 참여해 디지털 환경에서의 주요 쟁점에 대해 의견을 나눴다.
공정거래위원회는 이번 학술대회를 계기로 디지털 시대의 경쟁정책 수립 방향에 대해 전문가 의견을 다각도로 검토하고, 바람직한 정책 설계를 위해 학계 및 이해관계자들과 적극적으로 소통해 나갈 계획이라고 밝혔다.

The FTC stated that it plans to review expert opinions to establish competition policy frameworks for the digital era and continue communication with academic stakeholders.
