[CTN/사회]가금현 기자 = 국제로타리 3740지구 새충주 로타리클럽(회장 김재우)이 아동주거환경개선사업을 성공적으로 마치고 9월 1일 뜻깊은 준공식을 개최했다.

이번 아동주거환경개선사업은 새충주 로타리클럽이 주최하고, 서충주 로타리클럽과 충주탄금 로타리클럽이 함께 참여하여 지역사회 취약계층 아동에게 안전하고 쾌적한 주거 공간을 선물하기 위해 추진됐다.

특히 봉사 현장에는 협력단체인 한국해비타트와 새충주 로타리클럽의 자매클럽인 국제로타리 3620지구 서산한서 로타리클럽 회원들이 직접 도배 봉사에 동참하며 연대와 나눔의 의미를 더했다.

이날 준공식에는 국제로타리 3740지구 총재단을 비롯해 지구 임원과 참여 클럽 회원 등 관계자들이 대거 참석했다.

행사장 한편에는 그동안의 주거환경개선사업 진행 과정을 생생하게 담은 사진 전시회가 함께 열려 참석자들에게 가슴 따뜻한 감동을 선사했다.

새충주 로타리클럽 김재우 회장은 "아동들이 보다 건강하고 쾌적한 환경에서 꿈을 키워갈 수 있도록 한 마음 한 뜻으로 힘을 모아주신 모든 분께 진심으로 감사드린다"며 "앞으로도 지역사회의 소외된 이웃을 보살피고 초아의 봉사를 실천하는 데 새충주 로타리클럽이 앞장서겠다"고 감사 메시지를 전했다.

Organized by the Saechungju Rotary Club, this initiative was carried out with the active participation of the Seochungju Rotary Club and the Chungju Tangeum Rotary Club, all uniting to provide a safe and comfortable living environment for vulnerable children in the local community.
In particular, Habitat for Korea and the Seosan Hanseo Rotary Club of RI District 3620—a sister club to Saechungju Rotary Club—joined as partner organizations to assist directly with wallpapering work, adding deeper significance through solidarity and volunteer service.
The completion ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the District Governor team, district officers, and members of participating clubs. A photo exhibition depicting the progress of the housing improvement project was displayed at the venue, offering attendees an inspiring look at the transformed spaces.
In his opening remarks, President Jae-woo Kim expressed his gratitude, stating, "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who united with a single purpose to help our children grow and dream in a healthier, brighter environment. Saechungju Rotary Club will continue to take the lead in caring for underprivileged neighbors and practicing 'Service Above Self.'"
