[경북/CTN]이수현 기자= 이철우 경상북도지사가 행사의 위상을 강조하며 "경북 국제 AI·메타버스 영상제는 출범 3년 만에 97개국에서 3,403편이 출품되는 등 독보적인 AI 콘텐츠 플랫폼으로 자리매김하고 있다"라며 "앞으로 영상제를 세계 최대 규모의 국제 AI 영상제로 확대하고, K-식품을 비롯한 경북의 K-컬처를 세계에 알리는 글로벌 플랫폼으로 발전시키겠다"라고 밝혔다. 경상북도는 도청 다목적홀에서 종합발표회를 열고 오는 9월 3일 개막하는 '2026 경북 국제 AI·메타버스 영상제'의 주요 프로그램과 발전 전략을 공개했다.
경북도에 따르면 올해 3회째를 맞는 이번 영상제는 구미, 포항, 경산 3개 도시의 산업 기반과 연계해 개최된다.
올해 AI 영상 공모전에는 전 세계 97개국에서 3,403편이 출품돼 전년 대비 3배 이상 증가했으며, 행사 기간 중 총 1억 원 규모의 시상식과 1,500억 원 규모의 펀드 투자 상담회, 해외 바이어 초청 수출상담회 등이 함께 진행된다. 경북도는 이를 바탕으로 지역 콘텐츠 산업 생태계를 글로벌 수준으로 확장하겠다는 구상이다.
이처럼 AI와 가상융합 기술을 결합한 영상제를 개최하고 해외 바이어 초청 및 투자 상담회를 연계해 지역 기업의 글로벌 진출을 도모하는 것은 미래 첨단 콘텐츠 산업 육성을 위해 필요한 지자체의 행보다.
다만 온라인 공모전 출품작 수나 해외 참여 국수 같은 화려한 수치를 앞세워 세계적인 플랫폼으로 도약했다고 과시하는 것은 전형적인 생색내기식 보여주기 행정이라는 지적을 피하기 어렵다. 단순한 행사 규모 확대나 수사적 비전 선언에 머물 것이 아니라, 일회성 이벤트를 넘어 지역 기업들의 실질적인 매출 증대와 구체적인 투자 유치, 지역 인재 채용 등 현장에서 당장 체감할 수 있는 실리적 행정 성과가 우선되어야 할 것으로 보인다.
