[CTN/사회]가금현 기자= 농협서산시지부(지부장 윤희철)는 '2026 쌀의 날(8월 18일)' 기념행사에서 서산시 관내 음암농협, 운산농협, 해미농협, 고북농협이 연합해 설립한 동서산농협연합미곡종합처리장(RPC)의 '천하일품 쌀'이 「2026년 전국 농협쌀 10대 대표브랜드」에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

농협은 지난 2004년부터 농협쌀의 품질과 품종, 밥맛 등을 종합적으로 평가해 매년 '전국 농협쌀 대표브랜드'를 선정·발표해 오고 있다.

올해 평가는 평가의 공정성을 극대화하기 위해 유통매장과 온라인 채널에서 시판 중인 제품을 직접 암행 구매해 심사를 진행했다.

1차 평가에서는 농협식품연구소가 수분, 단백질, 완전립 등 11개 핵심 항목에 대해 품종 및 품위 평가를 실시했으며, 2차 평가에서는 한국식품연구원의 전문 패널이 엄격한 식미평가를 거쳐 최종 브랜드를 확정했다.

이번에 10대 대표브랜드로 뽑힌 동서산농협연합RPC의 '천하일품 쌀'은 서산의 비옥한 토양과 가야산에서 발원한 청정수, 맑은 공기 등 천혜의 자연환경에서 재배됐다.

특유의 풍부한 찰기와 윤기, 우수한 풍미를 자랑해 소비자들로부터 높은 평가를 받아왔다.

동서산농협연합RPC 주관농협인 운산농협 이남호 조합장은 "항상 충남을 대표하는 명품 쌀을 만들고자 임직원과 농가 모두가 마음을 모아왔다"면서 "정성껏 고품질 쌀을 생산해 출하해 준 지역 농업인 여러분께 진심으로 감사드린다"고 말하고 "앞으로도 우리 쌀의 자체 경쟁력을 높이고 쌀 소비 확산 문화를 선도하기 위해 다각적인 노력을 기울이겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.

The Seosan City Branch of Nonghyup (Branch Manager Yoon Hee-chul) announced at the '2026 Rice Day (Aug. 18)' ceremony that 'Cheonahilpum Rice'—produced by the East Seosan Nonghyup Joint Rice Processing Complex (RPC), an alliance of Umam, Unsan, Haemi, and Gobuk Nonghyup—has been selected as one of the 「Top 10 National Nonghyup Rice Brands for 2026」.
Since 2004, Nonghyup has evaluated the quality, variety, and taste of its rice annually to select and showcase the nation's premier rice brands.
To maximize fairness, this year’s evaluation was conducted on products directly purchased from retail stores and online platforms without prior notice. In the first phase, the Nonghyup Food Research Institute conducted variety and grade evaluations across 11 key items, including moisture, protein, and head rice percentage. In the second phase, a specialized panel from the Korea Food Research Institute conducted sensory taste tests to determine the final winners.
'Cheonahilpum Rice', recognized as a Top 10 brand, is cultivated in Seosan's fertile soil, blessed with clear water originating from Mt. Gaya and fresh air. It is widely acclaimed by consumers for its exceptional stickiness, glossy appearance, and rich flavor.
Lee Nam-ho, President of Unsan Nonghyup—the lead cooperative for the East Seosan Nonghyup Joint RPC—stated, “We have always strived to produce top-tier rice representing Chungnam. I extend my deepest gratitude to local farmers who dedicated themselves to harvesting high-quality rice.” He added, “Nonghyup will continue its multifaceted efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Korean rice and promote a culture of rice consumption.”
