[대구/CTN]이수현 기자= 추경호 대구광역시장이 명장 제도의 취지를 강조하며 "수십 년간 한길을 걸으며 최고의 기술을 일궈 온 명장들은 지역 산업과 경제를 지탱하는 든든한 버팀목"이라며 "앞으로도 숙련기술인이 존중받고, 청년들이 기술을 통해 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 숙련기술인 지원과 기술인재 육성에 더욱 힘쓰겠다"라고 밝혔다. 대구광역시(시장 추경호)는 산격청사 대회의실에서 2026년 대구광역시 명장 증서 수여식을 열고 2명의 숙련기술인을 최종 선정했다고 발표했다.
대구시에 따르면 이번 명장 선정은 15년 이상 현장에 종사하며 기술 발전과 후진 양성에 기여한 장인을 발굴하고자 추진됐다.
올해는 8개 분야 17명이 신청해 요리 직종 최경호 명장과 제과·제빵 직종 김규철 명장 등 2명이 최종 선발됐다. 선정된 명장에게는 명장패 수여와 함께 5년간 총 3,000만 원의 기술장려금이 지급되며, 청라언덕역 내 '대구 숙련기술명장 명예의 전당'에 헌액될 예정이다.
이처럼 장기간 한 직종에 헌신하며 뛰어난 기술력을 쌓아온 지역 현장 기술인을 발굴해 명장 칭호를 부여하고, 소정의 기술장려금과 명예의 전당 헌액을 통해 노고를 격려하는 것은 숙련기술 우대 문화 조성을 위해 필요한 행정 조치로 볼 수 있다.
