[김제/CTN]최동주 기자= 정성주 김제시장은 "김제시가 요구하는 것은 특혜나 지역의 몫이 아니라 그동안 적용해 온 기준과 원칙이 이번 결정에서도 일관되게 적용됐는지 확인해 달라는 것이다"라며 "감정적인 지역 간 공방이 아니라 자료와 사실, 법과 원칙에 따라 대법원의 판단을 구하겠다"라고 말했다.
전북특별자치도 김제시와 김제시의회는 9월 8일 김제시청 상황실에서 공동 기자회견을 열고, 행정안전부 중앙분쟁조정위원회의 새만금신항 매립지 군산시 관할 결정에 대해 대법원 제소 등 법적 대응에 나서겠다고 밝혔다.
이번 대응은 지난 4일 중앙분쟁조정위가 새만금신항 매립지를 군산시 관할로 의결하고, 행정안전부가 7일 이를 공식 공고한 데 따른 조치다.
김제시는 이번 의결이 대법원과 중앙분쟁조정위가 종전에 확립한 새만금 관할 결정의 기준과 원칙에 부합하지 않는다고 지적했다.
특히 새만금신항과 김제 관할 2호 방조제의 직결성 및 육상 교통망 연결 등 핵심 요소를 소홀히 다루고, 종전 해상경계를 중심으로 판단한 점을 강하게 비판했다.
이정자 김제시의회 의장 역시 방파제 안건과 매립지 안건의 갑작스러운 병합 처리 과정에서 충분한 숙의와 검증이 이뤄지지 않았다며 심의의 공정성에 의문을 제기했다.
김제시와 김제시의회는 군산시의 상생 제안에 대해 선택적 대응이라며, 법적 절차를 통해 새만금신항 관할권의 정당성을 바로잡겠다고 강조했다.
