Kyung-hyup Kim, Commissioner of the Overseas Koreans Agency, stated, "This project will provide practical help to Korean language schools that have struggled to secure Korean books due to budget shortages."

Commissioner Kim added, "We will expand support so next-generation overseas Koreans can naturally connect with our literature and foster their national identity."

The Overseas Koreans Agency announced on September 8 that it partnered with the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea to supply 7,000 Korean books to 70 Korean schools worldwide.

Designed to meet long-standing demands for educational materials, the two agencies signed a memorandum of understanding on September 2 to promote reading culture across overseas communities.

Under the agreement, the Overseas Koreans Agency identifies target schools and conducts demand surveys, while the Publication Industry Promotion Agency selects and directly ships books using its own budget.

The shipments, which include children's literature, novels, and essays, will first target Europe, Russia, and CIS regions before expanding globally starting late October.

The Overseas Koreans Agency stated it plans to broaden the scope of cooperation to continuously increase both target schools and shipment volumes.
