[외교부/CTN]가요진 기자= 김진아 외교부 제2차관은 "우리의 강점을 토대로 국제사회의 AI 생태계 구축 노력에 적극 참여하여, 우리나라가 글로벌 AI 거버넌스의 주요 파트너로 자리매김할 수 있도록 민관협력을 강화해나갈 필요가 있다"라고 말했다. 외교부는 과기부, 산업부 등 관계부처 및 AI 관련 기업들과 간담회를 열고 글로벌 경쟁력 강화 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.
외교부에 따르면 이번 간담회에는 AI 반도체, AI 안전, 통신, AI 모델 분야 주요 기업들이 참석해 AI 생태계 구축과 유사입장국과의 협력 방안에 대해 의견을 모았다.
김 차관은 민관 협력 강화를 강조하며 신뢰할 수 있는 AI 생태계 조성을 위한 주요국과의 협력을 지속 확대하겠다는 방침을 전했다.
외교 부처가 급변하는 글로벌 기술 패권 경쟁 속에서 국내 AI 기업들의 목소리를 듣고 국제 협력 네트워크를 점검하는 것은 외교 행정의 당위적인 업무다.
다만 구체적인 인프라 지원이나 국가 간 규제 장벽 해소 등 실질적인 정책 수단이 빠진 채, 관계부처와 기업들을 불러모아 '민관 협력'과 '글로벌 거버넌스'라는 선언적 구호만 되풀이하는 것은 보여주기식 행정이라는 지적을 피하기 어렵다. 단순한 간담회 개최나 겉치레식 협력 약속에 그칠 것이 아니라, 우리 AI 기업들이 해외 시장에서 직면하는 통상 규제 해소와 실질적인 글로벌 진출 거점 확보 등 잡히는 성과로 진정성을 증명해야 한다.
