[인천/CTN]주대호 기자= 박찬대 인천시장은 "IUCr 2032 총회 유치는 인천시와 관광공사, 학계가 원팀으로 협력해 이뤄낸 값진 성과다"라며 "송도바이오클러스터를 중심으로 과학기술과 컨벤션 산업이 함께 성장하도록 준비에 최선을 다하겠다"라고 말했다. 인천광역시는 2032년 '국제결정학연합 총회' 개최지로 송도가 최종 선정됐다고 발표했다.
인천시에 따르면 이번 총회는 결정학 및 바이오, 소재 분야 석학과 산업계 전문가 등 60여 개국 3천여 명이 참석하는 학술행사로, 2032년 8월 송도컨벤시아에서 열릴 예정이다.
인천은 인도, 남아공, 중국 등 경쟁 도시를 제치고 유치에 성공했으며, 인천국제공항과의 접근성과 송도바이오클러스터 등 첨단 산업 인프라를 강점으로 내세웠다. 시는 학술 교류와 함께 지자체 차원의 첨단산업 홍보 효과를 기대하고 있다.
