오 시장은 "실제 선거 과정에 미친 영향도 없고, 의뢰 사실조차 입증되지 않은 정황이 다수 존재함에도 중형을 선고한 것은 과도하다"며 "항소심을 통해 명태균 씨 진술의 허구성을 철저히 밝혀내고 억울함을 반드시 해소하겠다"고 강조했다.

이번 1심 선고로 오 시장은 정치자금법상 공직 자격 상실형 위기에 처했으나, 항소심을 통해 법리적 오해와 사실오인을 바로잡겠다는 강력한 의지를 피력함에 따라 향후 상급심에서 치열한 법정 공방이 이어질 전망이다.
