[천안/CTN]강현수 기자 = 천안시농업기술센터가 본격적인 영농철을 맞아 기상 변동성에 대응하고 고품질 쌀의 안정적인 생산을 견인하기 위해 벼 못자리 관리와 적기 모내기 실천을 위한 고강도 현장 기술지도에 나섰다.
센터는 최근 낮과 밤의 큰 일교차로 인해 육묘 환경이 악화됨에 따라 냉해를 비롯해 입고병(모기록병), 뜸모 등 치명적인 병해 발생 우려가 커지고 있다고 진단했다. 이에 따라 관내 주요 육묘장과 벼 재배 농가를 대상으로 모판 상태를 정밀 점검하는 한편, 적정 온도 유지와 선제적 병해 예방 요령을 집중 안내하며 현장 밀착형 지도를 펼치고 있다.
특히 센터는 천안 지역에서 주로 재배되는 ‘삼광’과 ‘친들’ 등 중만생종 품종의 모내기 최적기를 오는 5월 25일부터 6월 5일까지로 제시하고, 농가들이 이 시기에 맞춰 모내기를 마칠 수 있도록 실천을 강조하고 있다.
농업기술센터에 따르면 마음이 급해 모내기를 너무 일찍 서두를 경우, 이른바 ‘무효분얼(이삭을 맺지 못하는 가지치기)’이 증가해 포기 사이의 통풍이 불량해지고 이로 인해 각종 병해충 발생률이 급증하게 된다. 또한 기온 상승에 따라 설익은 벼가 익어가는 등숙기에 고온 환경에 노출되면서 벼알의 양분 소모가 많아져 결국 전체적인 수량 감소와 쌀 품질 저하로 이어지는 불이익을 초래할 수 있다.
이와 함께 센터는 고품질 쌀 생산과 더불어 최근 지속되는 비료 수급 불안 및 원자재 가격 상승에 대응하기 위한 방안도 병행한다. 토양 검정을 통한 비료사용처방서에 의거해 과도한 시비를 줄이고 적정량의 비료만을 사용하도록 유도함으로써 농가의 생산비를 절감하고 지속 가능한 친환경 농업 기반을 다지겠다는 복안이다.

The center diagnosed that as the nursery environment worsens due to recent large temperature swings between day and night, concerns are growing over cold damage, damping-off, and physiological seedling blight. Accordingly, the center is conducting close inspections of seedling status targeting major nurseries and rice farms in the jurisdiction, while providing close-up field guidance focusing on maintaining proper temperatures and preemptive disease prevention tips.
In particular, the center presented the optimal planting window for mid-late maturing varieties mainly grown in the Cheonan area, such as 'Samkwang' and 'Chindeul', from May 25 to June 5, emphasizing that farmers complete their rice planting within this timeframe.
According to the Agricultural Technology Center, if rice planting is rushed too early, so-called 'invalid tillering' (tillers that do not bear grain) increases, leading to poor ventilation between hills and a sharp increase in the incidence of various pests and diseases. Furthermore, as temperatures rise, the rice is exposed to high-temperature environments during the ripening stage, leading to increased nutrient consumption within the grains, which can ultimately result in reduced yield and degraded rice quality.
Concurrently, the center is implementing measures to respond to continuous fertilizer supply instability and rising raw material prices alongside high-quality rice production. Based on fertilizer prescription certificates through soil testing, the strategy is to reduce excessive fertilization and induce the use of only appropriate amounts of fertilizer, thereby cutting production costs for farms and strengthening the foundation for sustainable eco-friendly agriculture.
