[문체부/CTN]가요진 기자= 최휘영 문화체육관광부 장관은 "방한 관광객 3천만 명 시대를 열기 위해서는 수도권에 집중된 관광 수요를 지역으로 분산시키는 것이 필요하다"라며 "지역은 더 이상 중앙정부의 지원 대상이 아니며, 앞으로 지역 문화·관광 발전을 위해 중앙정부와 함께 큰 그림을 그려 나가는 역할을 해야 한다"라고 말했다.

문화체육관광부는 최휘영 장관이 9월 12일 경상북도청에서 이철우 경상북도지사와 면담을 갖고 경북 지역 문화·체육·관광 현안 및 협력 방안을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이철우 지사는 경주 APEC 국제문화원 설립, 세계경주포럼 정례화, 보문관광단지 리노베이션 등을 언급하며 정부 차원의 투자 확대를 건의했다.

이에 최 장관은 경주 APEC 등 주요 국가 행사와 지역 특색 자원을 연계한 대표 관광 콘텐츠 발굴의 필요성을 강조했다.

아울러 문체부는 지역 문화 향유 기회를 넓히기 위한 '우리동네 프로젝트' 등 주요 정책을 소개하고 지자체와의 공조를 약속했다.

문체부는 이번 면담에서 논의된 사안들이 현장에서 구현될 수 있도록 지자체와 실무 협의를 이어갈 방침이라며, 앞으로도 지역 맞춤형 관광 정책 추진을 통해 외래 관광객의 지방 유입을 확대해 나가겠다고 밝혔다.

Minister Choi stressed the importance of creating unique local content tied to major national events and introduced the ministry's 'Our Neighborhood Project.'

The MCST stated it will follow up with practical working-level discussions to translate these regional tourism initiatives into concrete policy outcomes.
