[대구/CTN]이수현 기자= 추경호 대구시장은 "이번 투자는 단순한 국내 복귀를 넘어 대동이 인공지능 팩토리를 기반으로 농업 피지컬 AI 기업으로 도약하는 중요한 전환점이다"라며 "대구시는 대동의 투자가 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 행정절차를 신속하게 지원하고 기업 현장의 규제와 애로사항도 적극적으로 해결해 나가겠다"라고 말했다. 대구광역시는 ㈜대동과 국내 복귀 투자에 따른 생산 시설 고도화를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
대구시에 따르면 국내 1위 농기계 기업인 대동은 중국 공장을 철수하고 달성1차산업단지 내 대구공장에 800억 원 규모의 리쇼어링 투자를 결정했다.
이번 투자를 통해 대동은 프리미엄 AX 라인과 AI 기반 자율주행 트랙터 전용 공장을 구축하고, 농업 현장 데이터를 활용한 국가 농업AX 플랫폼 구축을 추진할 계획이다.
이처럼 해외 진출 기업의 국내 복귀를 유치하고 인허가 지원 등 투자 환경을 조성하여 지역 제조업의 AI 전환을 도모하는 것은 지방정부의 정상적인 행정 활동이다.
다만 구체적인 행정 지원이나 규제 완화 실적이 입증되지 않은 업무협약(MOU) 체결 단계에서부터 대단한 경제 대개조 성과를 이룬 양 치적을 홍보하는 것은 전형적인 생색내기식 보여주기 행정이라는 지적을 피하기 어렵다. 단순한 협약식 개최나 수사적 지원 약속에 머물 것이 아니라, 실제 공장 가동까지 신속한 인허가를 이끌어내고 현장 규제를 과감히 정비하는 등 구체적인 지원 성과로 증명해야 한다.

According to the city, Daedong, a leading agricultural machinery manufacturer, decided to withdraw its operations from China and reinvest 80 billion KRW into its existing Daegu plant inside the Dalseong 1st Industrial Complex.
Through this project, the company plans to introduce AI-driven smart factories, construct dedicated autonomous tractor manufacturing facilities, and establish an agricultural AI platform.
While incentivizing corporate reshoring and supporting manufacturing modernization presents a plausible narrative for regional economic governance, skepticism remains.
Critics point out that issuing press releases and celebrating initial Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) prior to actual factory construction borders on administrative showmanship and excessive self-praise. Rather than relying on ceremonial signing events or rhetorical promises of administrative aid, the municipal government needs practical results, such as removing chronic regulatory barriers and expediting actual licensing approvals.
