[CTN/사회]한성진 기자= 가금현 CTN 대표이사가 서산시환경대책위원회(이하 서환위) 제2대 위원장으로 선임됐다.

서환위에 따르면 가금현 대표는 7월 1일부터 서산시환경대책위원회를 이끌며 제2대 위원장으로서 공식 직무를 수행한다.

이로써 초대 김춘수 위원장에 이어 가금현 대표가 서환위를 새롭게 이끌어가게 됐다.

초대 김춘수 위원장은 우리나라 3대 석유화학공단 중 하나인 서산시 대산석유화학공단의 환경문제 해결과 인근 지곡·성연 자동차산업단지 등의 환경개선을 위해 지난 5년간 헌신적인 노력을 펼쳐왔다.

특히 대산공단의 환경영향 재평가 등에 특별한 관심을 갖고 위원장직을 수행해 왔다.

김춘수 위원장은 "가금현 신임 위원장은 탁월한 리더십과 깊은 식견을 바탕으로 서산시가 안고 있는 각종 환경문제를 해결하는 데 앞장설 것으로 기대한다"며 신임 위원장에 대한 강한 신뢰를 표했다.

가금현 신임 위원장은 그동안 언론인으로서 지역 사회의 다양한 현안을 예리하게 시사하고, 시민들의 목소리를 대변하는 데 앞장서 왔다. 이번 위원장 선임을 통해 서산 지역의 주요 환경 문제를 다루고 지속 가능한 환경 정책 대안을 제시하는 데 한층 더 중심적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

가금현 위원장은 "서산 지역의 환경 문제는 시민의 건강권 및 삶의 질과 직결된 가장 중요한 현안"이라며 "서산시환경대책위원회가 지역 환경의 파수꾼으로서 실질적인 대안을 모색하고, 행정과 시민 간의 소통창구 역할을 충실히 해낼 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 취임 소감을 밝혔다.

한편, 서산시환경대책위원회는 지역 내 환경오염 예방, 환경 현안 모니터링 및 정책 제언 등 쾌적하고 안전한 지역 환경 조성을 위한 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다.

[SEOSAN=CTN] Ga Geum-hyun, CEO of CTN, has been officially appointed as the 2nd Chairman of the Seosan Environmental Measures Committee (SEMC).
According to the committee, CEO Ga will begin his official duties on July 1st, steering the committee into its next chapter following the tenure of founding Chairman Kim Chun-soo.
For the past five years, inaugural Chairman Kim Chun-soo dedicated extensive efforts to addressing environmental issues around the Daesan Petrochemical Complex—one of South Korea's top three chemical hubs—as well as improving environmental standards in adjacent automotive industrial areas in Jigok and Seongyeon. In particular, Kim focused heavily on re-evaluating the environmental impact assessments of the Daesan Complex. Expressing strong confidence in his successor, Kim stated, "With his outstanding leadership and deep insights, incoming Chairman Ga Geum-hyun is well-positioned to take the lead in resolving various environmental challenges facing Seosan."
As a veteran journalist, Chairman Ga has long been dedicated to addressing local societal issues and advocating for the voices of citizens. Through this appointment, he is expected to play a pivotal role in tackling key environmental concerns in Seosan and proposing sustainable policy alternatives.
Chairman Ga expressed his commitment in his inauguration address, stating: "Environmental issues in Seosan are directly tied to citizens' right to health and quality of life. I will do my utmost to ensure that the Seosan Environmental Measures Committee serves as an effective watchdog for the local environment, seeking practical solutions and acting as a vital bridge between the city administration and its citizens."
Meanwhile, the Seosan Environmental Measures Committee continues to carry out diverse initiatives to build a cleaner and safer community, including preventing environmental pollution, monitoring local environmental issues, and offering policy recommendations.
