[사회/CTN]가금현 기자= 한국동서발전㈜ 당진발전본부(본부장 도순구)가 지역사회를 위한 다각적인 사회공헌 활동을 펼치며 귀감이 되고 있다.

당진발전본부는 23일(화) 계성초등학교를 방문해 관내 유소년 축구 및 유도 꿈나무 육성을 위한 후원금 총 7,900만 원을 전달했다.

지난 2005년 첫 지원을 시작한 이래 올해까지 누적 후원금만 약 13억 3,600만 원에 달한다.

이번에 전달된 후원금은 계성초·신평중 축구부의 운동용품 구매 및 훈련비, 그리고 원당중 유도부의 훈련비 등으로 전액 사용될 예정이다.

이러한 지속적인 지원에 힘입어 관내 학교 운동부들은 뛰어난 성과를 거두고 있다. 계성초 축구부는 2025년 충남학생체육대회 2위, 신평중 축구부는 2025년 울진 춘계 전국 중등축구대회 우승을 차지했다.

원당중 유도부 역시 2026년 용인대 총장기 전국유도대회 금상, 제55회 전국소년체육대회 금상을 수상하는 등 괄목할 만한 성적을 내고 있다.

도순구 당진발전본부장은 “학생들이 더 큰 무대로 진출하는 데 이번 후원금이 좋은 밑거름이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 관심과 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

같은 날 당진발전본부는 지역 취약계층의 안전한 여름나기를 위한 지원에도 나섰다. 에너지캠퍼스에서 진행된 전달식에서 본부는 국가유공자 및 취약계층 등 총 100가구를 위해 300만 원 상당의 ‘쿨잠 여름 이불’을 기탁했다.

이번 물품 지원은 올여름 기록적인 폭염이 예고된 가운데, 냉방비 부담이 큰 에너지 취약계층의 온열질환을 예방하고 쾌적한 수면 환경을 보장하기 위해 마련되었다. 지원된 이불은 통기성이 우수한 냉감 소재 제품이다.

이와 함께 당진발전본부는 ▲충분한 수분 섭취 ▲더운 시간대 야외활동 자제 등 일상 속에서 실천할 수 있는 ‘폭염 대응 6대 행동요령’이 적힌 팜플렛을 함께 배부하며 안전 의식 확산에도 앞장섰다.

당진발전본부 관계자는 “이번에 전달된 여름 이불로 더위에 취약한 이웃들이 건강하고 안전한 여름을 보내는 데 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 복지 사각지대에 놓인 취약계층 맞춤형 사회공헌 사업을 지속적으로 발굴하고 추진하겠다”고 전했다.

This year’s funds will be fully allocated to purchasing sports equipment and covering training expenses for the soccer teams at Gyeseong Elementary School and Sinpyeong Middle School, as well as supporting the training costs of the Wondang Middle School judo team.
Backed by this steadfast support, local school sports teams have consistently yielded remarkable results. The Gyeseong Elementary soccer team secured 2nd place at the 2025 Chungnam Student Sports Competition, while the Sinpyeong Middle soccer team clinched the championship trophy at the 2025 Uljin Spring National Middle School Soccer Tournament. Additionally, the Wondang Middle judo team demonstrated exceptional potential by winning gold medals at both the 2026 Yong In University Presidential National Judo Championship and the 55th National Youth Sports Festival.
"I hope this donation serves as a solid stepping stone for these students to advance to bigger stages," said Do Soon-gu, Director of the Dangjin Power Complex. "We will continue to provide unwavering interest and support in the future."
On the very same day, the Dangjin Power Complex also stepped up to ensure a safe summer for the vulnerable members of the community. During a ceremony held at the Energy Campus, the complex donated "Cool Sleep Summer Blankets" worth KRW 3 million to a total of 100 households, including national merits and low-income families.
With record-breaking heatwaves forecasted for this summer, this initiative was designed to prevent heat-related illnesses and guarantee a comfortable sleeping environment for energy-vulnerable households burdened by high cooling costs. The provided blankets are made of high-grade cooling materials boasting excellent breathability.
Furthermore, the Dangjin Power Complex distributed brochures outlining the "6 Major Action Guidelines for Heatwaves," which include everyday practices such as staying sufficiently hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, thereby raising safety awareness in the community.
"We hope these summer blankets will help our heat-vulnerable neighbors spend a healthy and safe summer," an official from the Dangjin Power Complex stated. "Moving forward, we will continue to identify and drive customized social contribution projects tailored for those in the blind spots of social welfare."
